Capítulo 70: Grand Abyssal Bear
Everyone at the ghosts party was very excited because of the new achievement of the party. Harry Lockwood smiled at himself for making the right choice of promoting Lin Cian to be the strategist of the party. Usually, Darius was the one to defend the team. He usually stays with the team and won't change his position. Most prominently, he won't charge toward the enemies unless they attack him. That was his role. But Lin Cian was a person to suck out all the talents from the person thanks to his analyzing skills. He calls it "utilizing the resources". Lin Cian often changed their roles by adding or subtracting any tasks with their roles.
When they were fighting with the grand abyssal bear the whole team carried the burden of distracting the bear at all costs. The final blow should be given at its weak spot and that was its temple. The abyssal bear was large and strong yet a quick beast. Apart from its slow maneuver, it was not something to underestimate. Lin Cian suggested Darius hide and others to distract the bear. Darius disagreed at first but Lin Cian's next words made him raise his eyebrows. Not only him even the other members. His words were "if you didn't do it, others will die". He predicted that the defense of the bear is not something that average hunters like them can breach so he planned for each and every worst possibility and came up with a strategy. It was not an ordinary mission it was an exceptional mission. The strength of the abyssal bear was not something ordinary even a black earth knight in his peak strength would dare not pick a fight with it. The beast which the mission granted was not just the abyssal bear but the grand abyssal bear. A level five abyssal beast. They couldn't tackle the bear but thanks to Lin Cian's strategy, June's control, Harry's agility, Darius's strength, and others' cooperation they defeated the grand abyssal beast. The temple and the back head were the weak points of the beast so Lin Cian and the others distracted the beast. The beast cannot be distracted very easily. No one can escape its attack when it wants to kill someone. So the credit goes to the teamwork of the ghost's party.
Bear-type beasts have ultimate brute strength and they are good in attack and skillful in defense. Even a low-level bear could wipe out a whole party if not careful. Even the speed of the bear cannot be underestimated despite its heavy body. The only weakness the bears had was the maneuverability of the beast. It was very slow in kicking up to speed. In other words, picking up the speed was their weakness of them. The ghost's party took this as an advantage.
When they arrived at the mission Wei Li and Aveda were kept for backup. So they were on the top of two different trees which can cover the sight of the whole area. They can move through the branches and should be stealthy. They are not allowed to attack unless they get the signals. The other five members of the party rushed towards the bear. It was a huge mountain where everything is green. Wherever they look and wherever they turn they could see bushes and the trunks of the trees in the mountain. At last, they reached the destination where the bear was filling its tummy with human and animal flesh. It was showing its back to the ghost party. That meant it wasn't aware of them stalking it. Lin Cian and Harry found it to be fishy. They came to a silent agreement.
At first, Harry started the attack. He slashed his sword in the air and a thick strand of wind which is called the sword intent found its way towards the grand abyssal bear. To their surprise and to fill up the worries of the team the bear just turned back but the attacks meant nothing to it. It didn't leave a scratch on its body. The disappointed team scattered and started to do something useful in the battle. Aveda and Wei Li watched the battle and followed the members very closely. The bear made its move. It pounced towards Harry and when it went near Harry a glacier fell onto it's head. The beast got very furious. It realized something and pounced on June. The beast will be very slow when it wants to change its direction. That was when Darius came in and hit the head of the bear from behind with his hammer. The bear roared but Darius jumped off its shoulders and started to run. When it pounced on him William's light ball found its way toward the beast. The beast was very furious but it was helpless when it comes to a mastermind's strategy. The beast was surrounded in all directions. The process continued where the other members of the party would attack it with half their strength to divert the bear to let Darius give the blows. The battle lasted for a few hours and at last, it fell down to its knees and then to its face. It looked like a dream. Especially when Darius climbed its shoulder and yet to give the final blow. The grand abyssal bear somehow managed to realize the threat. It raised both of its paws towards Darius who was at its shoulder. Darius realizing the threat didn't give up but kept on his phase. He kept telling himself "injuries are inevitable". But before the paws of the grand abyssal bear reach Darius the right arm of the bear got attacked by a wind slash and the left arm was attacked by a wind ball. The attacks were not enough to hurt the grand abyssal bear. Even though the attacks failed to leave a mark on the bear, the impact the attack left on the bear is enough to buy Darius sometime to finish the grand abyssal bear.
When the beast was down the reaction of everyone including the cold-faced people, Harry and Lin Cian was "is it over". The whole team was exhausted. The people on the reserve were awed by the outcome of the strategy. They witnessed the whole scene as if they were watching a theater drama.
Not everyone will be highlighted on every mission. Lin Cian would even reserve at least one person for backup in the seven-person team. At first, no one could agree but now that became prominent. Being a reserve is not something to be lazy off. They have to be very watchful towards their comrades and should aid them when in need. They helped to turn the tables of many battles. So they became a prominent card in the battles. Sometimes they came into situations where the other hunters would steal the credits of the hunters who risked their life. They would just rob them because the members who risked their lives will be very exhausted. Even the ghost's party had faced the same crisis when they started to be adventurers. So they were not only reserved to be the backup when they fight with a beast but also to defend the team if someone is there to rob.
Exceptional missions were very infamous for wiping out a whole hunting party and on the other side, the pay was also very handsome. These missions were very life-threatening and so the pay was very high. Even a seasoned party would dare not do them if they had a slight doubt about their victory. These were the missions that even a high-level party would dare not to make a move recklessly. Lin Cian had a habit of going through all the missions, especially the exceptional missions hoping something might fit their party and it paid. One day he saw a new notice there on the exceptional list " Golden Abyss continent, southeastern province, Louri country, Lindi village near the borderlands of Askalan forest. A grand abyssal beast. Estimated to be level five or above. Hunting and causing chaos for villages and traveling officials. Erase it from existence to gain an official reward. Thank you". Lin Cian just tore the notice and brought it to his comrades and said, "we are doing this".
As for this kind of mission, there are no exceptions for anyone to join. Even a medium-level party can join but only one thing should be remembered throughout the missions and that is no one will be responsible for anyone and you can ask no one for compensation. As long as you are willing you can join the mission. Only a mission with a way higher level or with very high difficulty is included in the list.
