Asher woke up with a start when he heard the first knock on his bedroom door. He checked the time and it was a few minutes past five in the morning. He wondered for a brief second who it could be and since Lupita was the only other person in the house, he simply concluded it was her.

"I am coming, Lupita" Asher stood up from the bed and reluctantly went to the door. He wondered what his housekeeper could possibly want. It was barely morning.

"Lupita, you better have…. Mom!" Asher was startled to see his mother standing in front of him with tears stained face.

"Mom, what is it?"

Martha looked at her son and another batch of tears emerged and all she could murmur was a name.

"Demi"

Asher stared at his mother as she talked. He simply looked without saying a word.

"Can you hear me?" Martha asked him.

He simply stared.
