Sitting in my office I wore my glasses as I examined the massive amounts of documents in front of me.
As I did a frown appeared on my face.
It's almost time for the war to begin after all.
And it came in the blink of an eye.
40 more years have pasts just like that and I am already 55 years old. Meaning there is only five years left until the Anti-Satan faction and the Satan faction begin their clash.
That is why I have been preparing over these last four decades.
First off I have perfected several techniques, and my power is finally at the level of a Super Devil. I even have an ultimate-techniques that can defeat anyone. And once the war begins I will use it to make my mark.
Anyway, other than training I've also been recruiting allies. Namely devils from the pillar clans. Over the decades I cultivated relationships with a great many number of them. So when the war breaks out they will be on our side, and not the side of the Satan-Faction.
Speaking of the pillar clans I noticed something quite dark happening to them behind the scenes. A lot of their members were getting systematically killed.
But it never presented that way.
A lot of the pillar clan devils either died under "mysterious circumstance" or just disappeared after going out on missions or such other activities.
I first noticed this pattern 30 years ago, shortly after I entered my twenties. It was subtle, and most people wouldn't have been able to find it, but I did. That's because I collect a lot of data in general, but also because I taught myself how to use [Thought Acceleration] and [Memory Partition] from the Naruverse. I did so so that I could process all the information I received from my various sources in almost no time flat.
Thanks to this I noticed the pillar clan devils being targeted, and then it didn't take me long at all to figure out who was doing it.
The Maou clans.
All of the pillar clans that were being targeted either spoke out against the Maou clans in some form or fashion, or were neutral in their opinions about them. The only pillar clans they were not targeted were those who pledged loyalty to the Maou clans.
But over the years even those clans are starting to lose faith in the Maou clans and their current leaders.
I can't blame them one bit.
The Maou children are calling for their parents seats. They've only been ruling devil society unofficially for years, but once they are officially named into their Maou seats they will have unchallengeable authority and complete command over all devils.
The only reason the Maou children haven't taken their positions yet is do to a lot of the older devils keeping them from claiming them.
Namely that whiley old coot Zekram Bael.
He is no joke.
In fact I put him as even more of a danger threat than the Maou children. There is a reason he survived all the way until canon. He is patient, shrewd, cunning, but also open to changes in certain ways.
It's why I am so fucking weary of him despite my strength.
I guess this must be like what Sirzechs and the others felt like when they took their Maou positions. Despite all their power standing against someone like Zekram Bael is not easy at all.
However he's not going to find it so easy to get his way now that I am on the scene. I actually look forward to playing with him on the political stage.
Anyway, once I realized what was happening to the pillar clan members I dispatched several warnings to the ones I knew I could trust, and then placed guards to watch over the others until the Civil War begins.
My efforts have born fruit.
A lot of the pillar clan devils have avoided death, while retaining a great many of their members.
That's already one victory for the Anti-Satan faction in my book. Even though it hasn't formally been formed yet.
In other news I started a company called Devi-Tech and have put out several revolutionary products. The tablet I invented is now a mass production item. I also invented the Lacrima from Fairy Tail. Communication Lacrima is my company's biggest seller, but the military has also bought my explosion Lacrima in droves. They love to use them to clear out monster hordes near devil territories.
I am raking in the doe. But of course I am keeping the good stuff for myself.
A few products can't be revealed until after the war takes place.
And despite me not wanting it to happen it has to. Otherwise devil society will never get the kick it needs to jumpstart real change.
I came to terms with this a long time ago.
That is why I am going to do my best to keep the level of casualties to a minimum.
But make no mistake, I will drown myself in an ocean of blood when the time for battle comes. Those who stand as my enemies will feel my wrath.
Putting down the document I was reviewing I took off my glasses and leaned back in my chair. I then stretched my arms, trying to get the tension to leave my body.
As I was doing this the door opened and Zest walked in. Dressed in her maid uniform as usual. A silver-plate in her grasp with a mug of coffee on it along with some donuts.
I invented donuts for the underworld early.
Before they only had scones and bagels.
Those blasphemers had no idea what they missing.
"Excuse me." Zest said. "I have brought you a snack master Asterius." Zest said. She used her back to close the door. She then brought the tray over and placed it on my desk, slightly bowing after she did so. "I will take my leave now." She said.
"Not yet." I told her. "I want to have dinner before desert." I said. I then pulled Zest into my chest and kissed her, sticking my tongue in her mouth.
She wrapped her arms around my neck and deepened the kiss, while I roamed my hands all over her glorious body.
Zest is a member of my harem. She became so 30 years ago just after I turned 20. Unlike Roygun and Angelica she took some time to sort out her feelings, but when she confessed to me I decided to give her a chance. One thing led to another, and now I have a sexy maid that will give me any kind of service I want.
Like right now.
Breaking our kiss a trail of saliva connected our lips.
Taking Zest I pushed her against the edge of my desk. I then pulled up her skirt, and undid my pants, letting my rock-hard dick fly in the wind. I then wasted no time and stuck it right in Zest's asshole.
"Kyah!" Zest moaned. "Not there master Asterius. I haven't washed that hole all day." She cutely said.
"That's fine." I said. I then started pounding her. Taking hold of Zests' breasts through her clothes I increased my pace, meanwhile Zest moaned in pleasure.
Also no one can hear us. The moment I kissed Zest I put up a silencing spell.
"Yes, please do me harder!" Zest cried.
I slapped her ass and rammed into her fast, hitting her deep each time I did.
We kept increasing our pace, until finally we both came at the same time.
"Thank you for the snack." I whispered into Zest's ear, blowing into it after I did.
"Yes, master." Zest moaned in ecstasy.
I pulled my cock out of her and used magic to clean myself and her up. I also got rid of the smell.
Once Zest came down from her lust-filled high she pulled down her skirt and left the room.
But she was slightly limping as she did so, bringing a satisfied smile to my face.
"Ah, that is exactly what I needed." I mused to myself. I then sat down in my chair and enjoyed my coffee and donuts.
The rest of my stress melting away.
-------------------------------------------------------
As the quill pen wrote the signature on the last document it floated down to the table.
The moment it did I stopped playing Candy Crush on my tablet and put the signed paper in the completing pile, ending my work for the day.
Running a company and being a clan heir ain't easy.
Right after I entered my twenties my workload increased ten-fold. Inspecting the territory, going to political meetings, training the soldiers, signing and officiating reports and work orders. Etc.
But none of that compares to the dreaded soul crusher that is paperwork.
That's why I invented an enchanted quill that could sign my signature on all the documents I wanted it to. Which is why all I have to do is just read them, but with my enchanted speed reading glasses and my Naruverse memory spells I complete that easily.
So instead of spending days on end trying to avoid carpal tunnel and endless boredom, I end up with a lot more free time to do the things I want.
Which makes my friends jealous beyond belief.
They always ask me how I do it, but I simply tell them it's my spirit of youth.
I ain't giving up the self-signature writing quill until after the Civil War. Mostly in part because I want those Maou descendants bastards and their loyalists to know the pain of paperwork.
Even they cannot avoid it.
So until the war is over my friends will suffer as well. I said a quick prayer in honor of their sacrifice.
Once I did I stood up and got ready to leave my office.
But just as I did I felt a tug at my energy. A second later a red communication magic circle appeared near my ear and a message was played.
"This is Elysa Eligos. Code Black. I repeat code black." Elysa's message said.
The moment I heard that I sprung into action.
My friends and I have set up a personal coded message system over the decades that we put into use when certain events take place.
Code Black means that they are under attack and require backup immediately.
Wasting no time I summoned my armor that I used for situations like this.
I can't risk my identity being known since I have no idea who is attacking Elysa. If it is the Maou descendants and they spot me then things might go to shit and all our preparation over the decades will have been for nothing.
Hence my disguise.
Once my armor was on I sent out a message to some of my allies to be on alert. Then I summoned a teleportation circle and headed straight for Elysa's location.
--------------------------------------
As the teleportation circle deposited me I found myself in Eligos territory.
The instant I arrived I saw the Eligos clan and their soldiers being attacked by an army of black-clad warriors, and they were on the losing end.
That's when I remember that by the time the Civil War started in canon the Eligos clan was extinct.
I also remembered they the Eligos clan was subservient to the Fleurety House during the Great War. A house which is one of the Six Houses of Lucifer. Everything came together in that moment.
The Fleurety House eliminated the Eligos house themselves.
Those bastards!
Drawing the sword from my side I rushed into battle.
Reaching the blad-clad assailants I began cutting them to pieces without hesitation. Meanwhile I also set up shield to protect the soldiers and members of the Eligos clan under fire.
"Who is that?" One of the Eligos clan said pointing at me.
"I don't know, but they are one our side."
"Thank you!"
"Yeah, kill those fuckers!" A sixteen year old kid shouted.
I decided to take his words to heart.
Raising my hand in the air I summoned mutiple magic circles and let loose fire and lighting strikes against the enemies, creating a field of death.
I also spread out my senses to search for Elysa and Camio.
Ever since they married they have been living in Eligos territory.
Pinpointing their energy signatures I headed over to them.
When I arrived I saw Camio cutting down enemies using his specially crated wrist-blades.
Dodging an enemies spear he coated his left wrist blade in wind magic, and then let loose a wave of air blades, all of them releasing sonic booms since he used [Sharpen] to increase their cutting power.
The wind blades reached the enemy attacking him and diced him to pieces. It also cut up several other enemies, sending blood and guts flying through the air.
Elysa kicked an opponent in the face.
She then raised her left hand and sent out several demonic power bullets, killing enemies left and right.
I joined in the fray, and together the three of us ended the enemies in front of us easily.
We then rushed to help everyone else, and in just under an hour the battle was over.
Once it was the members of the Eligos clan began touching the corpses, body parts, and anything else of the enemies to try and get a read on them using [Psychometry]. However none of them had any luck, not even the clan head or Elysa, who are the most proficient in using the clan trait in the entire clan.
I walked up to Elysa who was clicking her tongue.
"What's the matter?" I asked her. My voice disguised by magic.
"I can't get a read on these guys at all." She said.
"Why is that?" Camio asked.
"When I tried to do so, all I saw was darkness. Meaning a spell was used to block us Eligos from being able to read the victims. However only we should know how to be able to do that." Elysa explained.
"Well, doesn't your patron clan, the Fleurety know?" I whispered.
Elysa nodded. She then got even angrier realizing the Fleurety clan sold out her own.
Camio walked up to her and put a hand on her back. "Dear please calm down. Now is not the time." He said.
"I know." Elysa said. She then looked at me. "Are you going to call a meeting?"
"Of course." I said. "Some guards will be along shortly, can I leave the rest to you two?"
"Yes." Camio and Elysa said.
I nodded at that.
I then used a teleportation circle to return to my office and get out of my armor.
Once I did I sent out a message for my allies to meet up.
Tonight's attack is the first actual real battle that has taken place. It's the first prelude to war.
"And so it begins." I mused.
I am definitely not getting any sleep tonight.
