Disappointment is one of the most difficult emotional experiences in life to deal with and go through. Just as dopamine, the part in the brain that creates feelings of happiness, will influence a person to continue to get happiness through drugs, disappointment works in the same system.

Disappointment will play with actions that keep reminding us of it, whether we are addicted or not. If we manage to find a reason to reduce the level of disappointment in ourselves, the dopamine in the brain will increase, and make us happier. However, if we can't find a reason to erase disappointment, then dopamine levels in the brain will automatically continue to decline.

This is what ultimately makes disappointment often last a long time in a person and is unbearable.
