After quickly changing in the tracksuits, we were brought out to a sports field. Along the ground were painted white lines, marking out the area used for several different events.
We were all standing next to the shot put field when Aizawa told us what was going on.
"Right, now that you're all here. We'll start the quirk assessment test"
This confused the everyone, including me. This prompted the ball headed girl with the bob cut to ask "What about orientation? we're going to miss it."
Mr. Aizawa then went on to tell us how the teaching at UA worked and how he was free to teach his class as he sees fit. This is one of the reasons why UA is so sought after for aspiring heroes, the school gives both the teachers and students a large amount of freedom to express themselves. This means that every class could have a totally different teaching style from each other, the only thing in common is that they all have to follow a set curriculum and cover all of it by the end of the year.
He also voiced his complaints about the ministry of education but that doesn't really matter.
"You've been taking standardized tests most of your lives, but you've never gotten to use your quirks in physically exams before" he stated while holding his phone up showing us the events we would be doing.
"Shinmon, Even though you never got the most villain point you still had the highest overall score. What was your farthest distance throw with a soft ball in junior high?" When the teacher called out my name, Bakugo's head whipped in my direction staring at me with what most would call a scary look.
Thinking for a moment, I then reply "Can't remember it's been ages since I last done it."
"Whatever then, just try doing it with your quirk this time" He told me sounding exhausted.
Nodding my head at him I walked into the starting position as he threw me the ball. Now I was wondering what I should do with it, I could either try propelling it with my flames to give it a boost or I could coat the ball in fire and just control it.
Both options have their own draw backs, if I use the first option the ball won't go as far, if I use the second the ball might just burn and disappear before it gets far enough. Oh well, both will take the ball pretty far, so might as well try the second.
Resting the ball in my palm of my hands, a blaze soon covered the soft ball. Taking a second to condense a more solidified layer of fire around it, I cocked me arm back and launched the ball as far as I could.
As soon as the ball left my fingertips I began speeding up the flames surrounding the projectile, causing it to speed up to an insane degree. But the price of this was the ball burning away mid flight, and just before the ball completely left everyone's line of sight the last pieces of the softball finally turned to ash.
Fizzling the last of my flames out I turned to Aizawa who was looking at his phone for the reading
"1856 meters before disappearing" He said while showing the class the reading. Many in the class were impressed and excited that they were going to be able to use their quirks for everything, but Aizawa quickly shut down their chattering by saying training to become a hero wasn't a joke and the student who comes last will be expelled.
The face he made while saying it actually made me shiver a bit, it was similar to the looks Konro would give me as a kid when he was dead serious about a punishment. Sure I'll admit I was scared of him as a kid but I'd never say it to his face.
We then done a series of 8 tests that would show our current limits, along with what our quirks are best suited for.
First was a 50m dash, to pass that I used the flames coming out my arms as extra thrust to cross the finishing line in a tidy time of 3.97 seconds.
Second was a grip strength test. For this one I rolled my sleeve up and let flames burst out my wrist to help push down on the machine, which ended up with me getting a score higher than most of the class. A massive guy with six arms end up getting a huge score for this test, proving just how strong those arms of his are.
For the rest of the test I used my quirk in different ways to help me get a higher score. I'm sure I'll end up coming in second, Yaoyorozu's quirks just far too versatile to beat in these tests.
While I was waiting for the others to finish the freckly boy with the green hair stepped up to his last test, the softball throw. This guys weird, really weird, and I'm not just talking about his personality. He's not used his quirk once during this entire test, and from what I've heard he took down one of those zero pointers with one punch back in the entrance exams.
Which begs the question, why hasn't he used it. The way things are going he'll be coming last and no way I'd be chancing it with someone like Aizawa as a teacher.
After the boys internal debate with himself he finally went to throw the thing. During the wind up streaks of red flashed across his arm filling his muscles with unbelievable power... but the end result was underwhelming, a measly 30 something meters.
Damn the kid looks like the worlds crashing down around him. Snapping him out of his despair was the teachers scarf, which tied him up and dragged him towards Aizawa.
"I erased your quirk" this was all we could hear we could hear from the side lines until Midoriya shouted his name 'Eraser Head'. That's what his name was, Aizawa's quirk allows him to disable the quirk of everyone within his line of sight.
That's a seriously dangerous ability, most people would be rendered useless without their quirk, making them an easy target for those bandages of his. I'll need to come up with something to counter it, what if a villain had a similar ability? I'd end up at a serious disadvantage from then on.
After their talk was finished Midoriya went back to take another throw but this time instead of using his full arm he just pinged the ball with one of his fingers. Throwing it a total of 705 meters but shattering his finger in the process.
Moments after the throw Bakugo flipped, running towards Midoriya with explosions going off in his palms. Luckily for Deku as Bakugo calls him, eraser held the raging student back before he go too close. There's definetely some bad blood going on between those two, wonder why.
After that we all gathered round our homeroom teacher where he showed us the scores on a projector.
'1st Momo Yaoyorozu, 2nd Shinmon Benimaru, 3rd Shoto Todoroki, 4th Katsuki Bakugo...'
Good enough, Todoroki seems pretty good with that ice quirk of his anyway.
"And I was lying no ones going home, that was just a rational deception to make sure you gave it your all in the tests." Aizawa explained with a unnerving grin on his face.
This got a variety of reactions from the students with Yaoyorozu piping up and saying "Surprised the rest of you didn't figure that out, sorry I guess I should've said something" which made a group of students sweat drop.
"That's it we're done for the day, pick up a syllabus in the classroom and have it read by tomorrow" Eraser told us, walking away before he was even finished.
