Francesca turned her head in surprise where the voice had been heard. The doctor was standing there dazzling as always with his perfectly hand-sewn luxury clothes.

Her eyes were fixed on him without aiming it, and she watched him approaching her. He took the earrings from her hands and put them on her ears. Francesca felt the earrings heavy in her ears, but it was a sweet weight she would happily carry for the rest of her life.

He looked at her through the reflection in the mirror. "You are dazzling," he told her, dragging his fingertips to the side of her neck, making her shudder.

An invincible desire overwhelmed him to kiss her on the neck, and he slowly leaned towards her. Francesca noticed his movement and, breathless, remained frozen in her place like a statue, unable to react.
