Capítulo 66: Chapter 66

Abel's new limelight was snatched away.

This was his first impression after witnessing the Ancient One solve the Witch Heart Demon.

As for the Ancient One's strength, Abel had known it was formidable, but he hadn't expected it to be so overwhelming.

Sure enough, just like the experiences gained in previous lives, the original plot in memory could only serve as a reference. Believing in it entirely would lead to disaster. If Abel assumed the Ancient One was merely a melee mage as he remembered from his past, that would truly be self-sabotage.

Hmm... I seem to have unknowingly put myself in the perspective of the villain...

Watching the spot where the Witch Heart Demon had disappeared, the Ancient One frowned slightly. Just as she was about to fully resolve the Witch Heart Demon, she sensed another force had intervened, whisking the demon away and leaving behind only a remnant of its power. The Ancient One had a hunch about who was responsible. Since her father had intervened, there was no need to pursue it further; chasing the demon through dimensions would only complicate matters.

Sighing at the thought, the Ancient One turned to inform the mages of Kama Taj to leave, but then she noticed Abel crouched beside a devil's corpse, using a scalpel to extract something. Hesitating, she chose not to disturb him and instead approached the evil spirit knight to use her magic to realign his neck. In an instant, the knight's body reverted to its human form amidst black smoke, a stark contrast to his previous battle with the Witch Heart Demon.

After thanking the Ancient One, the knight chose not to interfere with Abel, instead taking Roshan and leaving on a motorcycle.

"Kaecilius, Mordo, arrange for the wizards to leave directly to Kama Taj. Heal the wounded and attend to the funerals of the fallen."

Kaecilius nodded, preparing to depart.

At that moment, Mordo spoke up quietly to the Ancient One: "Ancient One, what Abel Shaw was using just now was genuine black magic, and it appeared extremely sinister.

Although he didn't use that evil black magic against innocent people, those who delve into black magic inevitably face degeneration. Even if he isn't dealt with, I believe Kama Taj should refrain from further contact with him."

Before the Ancient One could respond to Mordo, Kaecilius whispered, "What are you talking about, Mordo? Abel's magic saved many of our mages and defeated the water monster. Even if he uses black magic, his actions are just!"

"Mordo, I know you have a close relationship with Abel Shaw, but you must understand that our purpose at Kama Taj is to maintain peace and light in the world. While black magic itself is not inherently evil, what is terrifying is its potential to corrupt the user's mind; you should recognize this truth!"

Had it been earlier, Kaecilius might have refuted Mordo's words immediately. But now, influenced by his secret studies of black magic under the Ancient One, he found himself conflicted and slow to respond.

After that pause, Mordo turned to the Ancient One again. "Ancient One, my previous words were merely my thoughts. Ultimately, your decision is what matters."

"Mordo, Kama Taj has always sought to maintain peace and never instigated wars. Our relationship with Master Abel is one that cannot be severed; he is our ally. This matter ends here. I hope you can understand that our alliance will remain intact unless Mage Abel commits acts that harm the innocent. I believe he won't."

Hearing the Ancient One's words, Mordo said no more. He simply bowed and led the other wizards in opening a portal to return to Kama Taj.

Once they left, Kaecilius looked at the Ancient One, hesitated, then grew resolute. His desire was to make the world a better place, where everyone could live in peace. Achieving this required strength.

As Abel had once told him, power carries no inherent good or evil. As long as one maintains their inner goodness, even the most malevolent black magic can be wielded for the world's peace, just as Abel had done before. Despite using dark magic, Abel had dismantled the subspace, defeated the water monster, and saved many mages from certain death. Everything he did aligned with his words.

Having resolved his thoughts, Kaecilius bowed to the Ancient One and led the others in opening a portal to return to Kama Taj.

Watching Kaecilius leave, the Ancient One sighed, satisfied. One of her students had finally demonstrated true mastery.

As the mages of Kama Taj retreated, the Ancient One approached Abel, who had finished collecting materials from the devil. "Master Abel, have you gathered all the materials?"

Nodding, Abel replied, "I've completed the collection. I just need to process them further when I return. There's still much work to do to restore the potion; these materials may prove useful."

"Mage Abel, among the magic you inherited, do you possess as much black magic as before?"

She had anticipated this question.

Abel sighed inwardly. When he used the Heart Drilling Curse earlier, he had known it was only a matter of time before the Ancient One questioned him about black magic.

"Ancient One, of the magic I inherited, 70% is white or neutral, and 30% is black. Most of the black magic is fairly ordinary, aside from a few more powerful or slightly evil spells. The Heart Drilling Curse I used earlier is among the few extremely evil types within the black magic spectrum. Along with it, there are two other spells known as the Three Unforgivable Curses; they represent the most malevolent magic I possess."

"Mage Abel, please don't take offense. The quality of magic itself is not a concern for me. I trust you have the ability to manage these black magics, but I needed to ask. I hope you understand."

"Of course, I expected as much."

Smiling, the Ancient One asked, "When can we start the task you wished to entrust to me?"

"Let's do it now!"
