Bucky's POV
My eyes slowly flutter open, I sigh happily. The sunrise was spilling through the window above me, I look at Aurora. She was curled in the curve of my arm with her head up my chest, her body was slowly moving up and down at an even pace.
This had to be one of the happiest moments of my life, well, at least it felt like it. My right hands run through the kid's wood brown hair, surprisingly, it's really soft.
I look at my watch, 6:30am.
I silently yawn and carefully get up without waking the kid, to go to the bathroom. When I come out, I see Aurora waking up.
'Good morning, Bucky.' She says with a yawn, somehow this makes me smile more.
'Morning Skyfire, you sleep alright?'
'Yeah, did you?'
'Mm-hmm.' I answer, she gets up and uses the bathroom, I realised that I am in the same clothes as yesterday.
'Kiddo.' I say when Aurora walks out of the bathroom.
'Yeah?'
'Yesterday when you were getting undressed, I noticed you had some scars and injuries.'
'Oh yeah, those were from the man chasing me yesterday.'
'So, who exactly is this man?'
'Well…' I sit on the bed and Aurora sits on my lap; she looks at the floor with a sorrowful expression.
'Aurora, we made a promise that you could tell me anything, right?'
'Right.' She mutters quietly, Steve opened the door slightly but the kid didn't notice. I mouthed "go away", he nodded and closed the door silently.
'So Skyfire, please tell me the truth. Who is that man?'
'He's, my dad.' I freeze, that's her dad?
'Like your actual dad, biologically?' Aurora nods and I see tears fill her eyes, I pull her into a tight hug and she leans her head against my chest.
'Why didn't you tell me this yesterday?' I whisper, I could hear her sniffles, shit! I made her cry, fuck you, James!
'B-B-Because you wouldn't have helped me.' She cried into my chest, I sigh and begin stroking her hair soothingly.
'Skyfire, I would've helped you either way, no matter who he is.' I whisper, her eyes look up into mine.
'R-Really?'
'Of course! Now, shall we get you dressed?' She nods and fetches the clothes that she was wearing yesterday, I help her get dressed and we made our way to the elevator, can't believe I'm about to do this.

Unbelievably, I took her to Stark's lab, I open the lab door and stand in the doorway with the kid.
'Stark!' I yell, he didn't answer me due to the noise going on.
'STARK!' I try again, no answer, I begin to grow furious.
'TIN MAN!'
'What?!' He yells, he stops the noise and comes over to the door. Aurora hides behind my legs, Stark chuckles lightly as he kneels down.
'Stark, this is Aurora.' I speak.
'Hello, Skyfire.' Tony says gently.
'That's Bucky's nickname for me.' Aurora giggles, Stark looks up at me with amusement.
'Is it now? Never knew such an old man could make a nickname like that for such a beautiful girl.' I slap the back of Stark's head and growl but Stark just chuckles.
'Skyfire, my name is Tony.'
'It's a pleasure to meet you, Tony.' Stark looks up at me again with a smirk.
'Such a polite young lady, unlike your old man here.' Tony jokes.
'I'm older than you'll ever be.' I smirk, Tony rolls his eyes as he stands up.
'So, what can I do for you metal-man?'
'You're the tin man here, but Aurora needs a check-up. Can you do that without showing off?'
'Pfft, you know I can.'
'You're already doing it, genius.' Tony picks Skyfire up and puts her on one of his benches.
'Do you have a singlet underneath, young lady?'
'Yep.'
'Good, can you take your t-shirt off?' The kid does exactly what's she's told, when Tony sees the scars and injuries, he looks back at me with concern.
'Skyfire, how long have you had these scars?'
'It started when I was about one.' Tony looks back at me and mouths "one!"
'And how old are you now?'
'I'm seven.' She says proudly, my phone begins to ring, it's Steve. I answer it.
'Hello?'
'Buck! We've got a lead on Emberly.'
'I'm a little occupied, so is tin man.'
'Is it about that little girl?'
'Yes! But Steve, she's been abused. You won't believe how many scars, scratches and bruises she has.' The kid looks at me with a concerned look, I hear Steve sigh.
'You're soft Bucky.'
'I know that but you're still a teddy bear.'
'When you're done, could you introduce her to everyone?'
'If she's up to it.'
'Great! I'll see you up here in about…ten?'
'Maybe less but sure.' I end the call when Stark finishes the check-up, Aurora rushes over to me and I pick her up.
'Is everything okay Bucky?'
'Yeah.'
'Your scratch is getting better.' I completely forgot about the scratch from yesterday, I run my hand over it, it's smooth. It'll probably become a scar.
'Hungry?' I ask.
'Yeah!' she says excitedly.
'Great! I'll cook you some pancakes!' Tony says excitedly, I immediately thought of what happened last time he cooked, it wasn't pretty.
'Since when can you cook Stark? The last time you cooked, everyone threw up.'
'Yeah! Well – I was trying something new!' He protested with an offended look. 'But pancakes are my signature dish.'
'I highly doubt that. Do you want to meet everyone else?' I ask Aurora, completely moving off the topic of food.
'Yeah, can I ride on your shoulders?'
'Why not.'

We made our way to the lounge room a couple of floors up, surprisingly, Fury wasn't there which made me relax a bit. Everyone else was there though, having a great time. I place Aurora down in front of me from my shoulder and everybody looks at us, Aurora took a deep breath and walked over to them to introduce herself.
Steve bumps my shoulder playfully as I cross my arms and watch Aurora.
'Softie.'
'Teddy Bear.' We both stay in comfortable silence for a moment.
'So…she's been abused?'
'Yeah, by her dad. Which was the man chasing her with a knife.'
'Oh, but seriously! Why do idiots like that always do child abuse? It's just wrong.' He complains.
'Not everyone in the world is good, Steve. You should know that by now.' I look at him with the corner of my eye, he sighs. 'Steve, what are we going to do?'
'Well, now we have two problems to deal with.'
'She's not a problem.' I growl with a warning tone. 'What can you tell me about Ember?'
'Well, she was spotted last night by Clint when he was on lookout. He started chasing her but lost her in the end after five minutes of running. But we think that now Naomi is gone, that she's going after King T'Chaka of Wakanda. He's doing a conference today, Natasha is going, so she'll keep a look out.'
'I'll go to.'
'But Bucky! Aurora needs you; she's only just met everyone today.' Steve argues.
'She met me yesterday and she fully trusts me.' I argue back.
'Because you saved her from her psychopath of a dad!' Steve snaps, we both fell silent.
'I and I alone can reason with Ember.'
'What are you not telling me.' Steve growls, I keep my eyes focused on the kid who now seems happy and cheerful.
'Something that you don't need to know.' I feel Steve's eyes upon me but then he sighs in defeat.
'Alright, just be careful.' He mutters quietly, I nod. I stroll over to Aurora who was playing "don't go away" with Clint, I kneel down and Aurora comes over to me with a huge smile on her face.
'Hey Aurora.' I say gently.
'Hi Bucky! Clint taught me how to play "don't go away"! It's really fun, we should play it sometime!'
'Kid, I can see you are having a lot of fun with everyone. But I have to go with Nat to do something important, okay? Is it alright if I leave you here with these guys?' I feel lots of eyes upon me as Aurora has her hard thinking face on.
'Okay…but don't get hurt or in trouble! You know how worried I can get.'
'Alright, deal.' Nat and I leave for King T'Chaka's conference.
