Capítulo 24: Chapter 24
Once we were done greeting the children, we both got up. Once we were in-between the huddle of nobles and the chairs. The lights turned off, the maid I was watching disappeared. Some children screamed while some of the adults told them to calm down.
I channeled Mana into eyes and activated my 'Draconic Eyes.' I could see the flow of Mana around us, the maid had hid her presence but she could never hide from me. My vision was strange, white particles represented pure Mana. And the other elements had corresponding colours, I could also change what I was seeing. Right now I could see Mana, I willed the Mana in my eyes to let me see through stuff and it worked.
Normally that wouldn't just work, but the Draconic eyes could see through the world itself. I could see a person's skeletal structure, muscles, joints etc. I can't use the abilities in conjuction yet but I surmise that I'll be able to do so with practice. I looked around for a body type similar to the maid. But I couldn't see anything that even remotely looked like the maid.
I felt a presence behind and attempted to manifest a weapon. But before I could do anything she grabbed on to my neck, and with the other arm she grabbed Angelica.
"I've got you~"
The assassin said in a cheerful voice. And then we dissapeared. Not literally, we were taken 'somewhere' I didn't know where though. Everywhere I looked, there was nothing but darkness.
"Now now children, why don't we have some fun with this Auntie Catherine~"
"A spacial ability?-"
"My my~ You catch on fast, although spacial magic doesn't exist, spacial abilities certainly do. Although they are a rarity, don't tell me you didn't know?"
'WHAT! SPACIAL ABILITIES ARE A THING? WHAT KIND OF BULL SHIT IS THAT? Tsk, why did no one fucking tell me.'
"Tsk, you had to bring backup?"
I said as I felt three pressures on me, I turned around and saw people wearing dark clothes along with hoods. They were each wielding daggers, the assassin who called herself Catherine was wearing her maid outfit but she had a rapier in her hand.
I stretched my arms, I started circulating Mana within my body, I've made fairly good progress through Mana Class 8. I'm around half way there, but in terms of combat ability I'm closer to a mid rank Mana Class 7. And I have Angelica as backup, and that woman and her allies.
They don't seem too strong, maybe there's a limitation on her ability? Yes, that must be it, or else she wouldn't need to bring so many people.
I formed 'Edge Of Nightfall' in my hands and got into a stance. I activated my Draconic Eyes, using its X Ray mode to watch how their muscles twitched and how their ligaments were placed. 'Catherine' dashed forward, I used my left palm to strike her throat but she caught it and thrust her rapier.
I dodged it by a few millimeters and kicked her stomach and pushed myself away. Angelica was on the sidelines doing... nothing? Then I realised something.
The Angelica I know is a teenager, who's competent and experienced in combat. The person I'm with is a child, although it sounds like a bad thing, it's not.
Children are impressionable and easily impressed and grow attachments quickly. If I can protect her and make her feel attached to me, her overwhelming IQ will be useless. I've been scared to manipulate her since she's under the protection of Kevin Godhart, but if I'm 'protecting her' then wouldn't it be natural that she was at least somewhat attached to me considering her age?
With that in mind I relaxed my body, I made my sword dissappear and formed Gungnir. I started spinning it to make it harder to predict, then I thrust the back of it behind me and landed a blow on one of the supporting Assasin's legs. I quickly beheaded them while they were shocked.
"Hmm~ I see it now." Said 'Catherine'
"See what?"
"Why they wanted me to kill you and not het, it's because of that instinct of yours. You killed a man before reaching 10. If someone like you was I'm charge of an army or sent into battle, the amount of death you'd be willing to cause would be immeasurable. And on top of that, your ability to wield weapons is superior even to higher ranking soldiers.
I ignored her, I looked at her body and saw her right arm twitch. She thrust it once again, this time I dodged it with ease as I was more focused.
"Ah~ You're starting to get serious about killing us aren't you?"
She said so with a smile on her face, her long black hair fluttered as she dashed forward, aiming for my neck.
