Capítulo 13: Volume 1.12 Ares (1)

When Myrene opened her eyes, she found herself back in her locked room. When she tried to move, she felt a stinging ache all over her body. When she looked closer, she discovered that she was completely covered in bandages. And there was a distinct scent of herbal medication in the air.

"So you didn't die, young lady," Ares, their gardener, said, causing Myrene to flinch. She cast a glance in his direction. Ares was leisurely sweeping the room.

"You are quite fortunate to be alive," the old man said with a smile on his lips but his green eyes were unreadable. His focus was fixed on the dust he was sweeping.

'I was struck by the ogre's fist,' Myrene said, looking down at her bandaged hands. 'Did they treat me when I passed out?' Then...'

Her brother's smiling face that was reflected by the warm sunlight flashed through her mind. 'Little sister, let's play!'

Myrene immediately rushed out to her bed but only felt due to the severity of her wounds. She couldn't feel any strength in her legs.

"I apologize, young lady. But I don't have the ability to heal you like Frayah does or have any supplies of healing potions right now. This is the only treatment that I can give you."

At the mention of Frayah's name, Myrene stiffened. She tried her best to stand up but her body was aching all over.

"But given you have his majesty's blood, even if your magic is not awakened yet. Your wounds are healing faster. You will be fine with a few days of rest."

'Rest?' Myrene gritted her teeth. 'I can't afford to rest now. Now that I'm out of her control, I need to find my brother.'

As if the gardener had read her intentions, he spoke once again. "You don't have to worry about your brother. He already received his name." The gardener said as he put the broom at the corner of the room.

'Received his name? Don't tell me, his sixth birthday has already passed?' A terrible sensation of fear and dread started to eat Myrene's heart.

Her expression indicated that her brother was the only person on her thoughts at the moment. The old gardener continued his statement. "With the awakening of his magic, he got the name Thirty, that's all I can inform you."

'Thirty? What kind of name is that? No, why am I even listening to him in the first place?!'

"Since you didn't die. From today onwards, I will be the one to train you until your naming ceremony, Milady." The gardener said as he stopped in front of Myrene.

Myrene looked at him with eyes full of hatred and wariness.

"Train me? More like more torture will come to me!"

The gardener simply looked at her. "Milady, even if you won't accept it. This is the only way for you. The only thing that will help you survive and save your brother here is to become stronger. I will not force anything on you until you recover first." He suddenly raised his right hand.

When Myrene thought that he was going to hit her, she unconsciously blocked her hands in her face. But moments later none of that happened. Ares just simply grabbed the tray that was on the table beside her.

"We will begin your training, once you are fully recovered, Milady," said Ares as he turned around to leave the room. When the door was shut close, that was when Myrene could finally breathe. Her eyes narrowed looking at the door.

She could only form a fist. 'I won't fall to any of your schemes.' Myrene forced herself to sit back to her bed. 'But my body is indeed at its worst state. I will not be able to see my brother nor escape here in this state.' Then she remembered the time when they tried to escape. 'Even if I'm in better condition, escaping from this place will be hard.'

'However he repeatedly told me to become stronger? Then it really means they will not kill me. The same for brother...' She could only grit her teeth. 'But still with Frayah with him, he might be suffering worst than am I.'

Myrene laid back her body on her bed. 'Brother please hang in there. I will save you no matter what happens.'

True to his words, Ares didn't force anything to Myrene until she completely recovered.

One week had already passed. She was astonished to see that she was completely healed now despite having those severe wounds. There were no chains either that were binding her foot.

She also looked at the tray of food that was on her table. Ares brought her three complete sets of foods everyday. As she used her appraisal on it, there was no poison like what Frayah usually brought her before. Although she was wary of Ares' intentions. Since the food was not poisoned, she ate it. So that she could recover much faster.

"Milady, this is Ares. May I come in?" Ares asked after knocking three times in the door.

This was also another thing that was strange to him. Since the time Myrene woke up, Ares always asked for her permission whenever he would enter her room like what a proper servant would do. And like the thing she always does, Myrene didn't give him a reply.

After a moment of silence, "Please excuse my rudeness, Milady. I will now enter your room." Ares politely said.

With how he always acted. Myrene couldn't think of what his real attention was. Ares entered the room, and picked up the tray emptied of food.

"Milady, it seems you are already completely recovered." Ares said but Myrene was not giving her even a single glance. He brought out a rolled paper tied with a red ribbon from his coat. "This will be your schedule with your training, Milady." He placed it down the table. "We will begin your training starting tomorrow." He said then left the room once again.

Myrene glanced towards the table.

{Normal Rolled Paper.}

Her appraisal skill showed. She slowly reached for it and removed the ribbon tied to it. As she read it's contents, her eyes narrowed at how normal it was on what was written on it. How could she read it? When she had time, she asked her mother to teach her to read and write along with his brother.

Remembering the times when the three of them enjoyed their studying together. Her mother, who was patiently answering every bit of brother's questions. And Myrene who was busy memorizing the letters of this world. Her emotions started to swirl once again.

'Mother, brother…'

Looking back at the paper Ares gave her, there was nothing strange to the contents of the schedule. For the whole morning she would exercise to increase her stamina, then the rest of the remaining time would be studying. This would run the entire six months.

'Just what is he planning to do with me?' Myrene pondered.

Ares, the gardener, was an old man who usually had a smile on his face when tending to the flower beds in the garden. He was always a humble and quiet old man back then. When she and her brother came to the garden, he always greeted them with a smile. Further than that, Myrene had no other recollection of him.

'Ares and Frayah. I have no clue what you have in mind for me. But...' she crumpled the paper she was holding. 'Since both of you wanted me to become stronger. I will do what you desire...for now.'
