The next day, Whitney was more worn out than usual by the kids she watched so she ended up asking Isaac if he finally wanted to show her his Hamburger Helper skills via text before heading home. He showed up with the things he needed at his usual time and she wasn't sure she had ever appreciated another person more.
"Thank you," she said fervently as she hugged him.
"Of course! If you want me to cook more often, I totally can even if I'm not as good as you. You shouldn't have to do it all the time."
"Normally I don't mind but everyone was in a mood today at both of my jobs. The baby wouldn't stop crying and then the siblings wouldn't stop fighting no matter what I did. There must be something in the air."
"That is a lot to deal with for one day," Isaac said mildly. "Are you sure you're okay? I can go home after we eat."
