On entering Layla's hospital room, Damien was shocked to see his mate now blue, laying down and looking lifeless on the bed and he struggled to keep his emotions in check and his barriers steady

"I thought Claire said she is better!" he said, his heart clenching as he looked over to where his mate lay down with a bluish skin

"Maybe she said that to make you feel better," Ashley said as she unpacked the bag she was carrying on a tray on the table that was far to her side "it is the venom that's making her skin change color, it's a poison to her that this is one of the reaction she's getting, don't worry she will be better soon" she said after a while, looking at him with something close to pity and understanding
