**ADDIE'S POV**

I was just about to start walking forward, about to move with Nolan and the others toward the house and the meeting that waited for us in there, but I was halted before I even took a single step. Of course, and definitely not at all surprisingly, Shepherd was the one to stop me from moving forward. His voice was filled with so much hatred and disdain that it was almost physical. I swear that I was able to feel it as it prickled against my skin.

"I will not let them have all those assassins in the room with us. They will give them orders to kill us all, especially that mongrel. He will not hesitate to attack any of us."

"Do not call him that." I snapped at Shepherd. "You have no right to speak to him like that. I don't care if he is different, you do not have the right to speak to anyone like that. You are a rude and vile man."

"What did you say to me, little bitch?" Shepherd snapped as he whirled around to face me.
