I didn't try to delay the inevitable. I didn't try to throw a tantrum to get my dinner brought to my room. I didn't want to do anything that would bring more suspicion to me than there already was. So, when Violet told me that it was time for dinner, I rose to my feet and followed her out of the room.
Violet led me down the stairs to the first floor and through a set of large double doors that were even more ornately carved than my bedroom doors. The doors were closed, but there were two men standing on the outside of the doors that were waiting to open them for us when we got close enough.
