A line of blood formed from where Raygan had gone inside. The owl who had led her here waited on a tree branch looking at the crack which was formed in the stone slowly close up. Its work here was done and it flew away high and back towards the moon.
Raygan continued to walk inside when suddenly she felt a powerful pull which had her jerk forward and next moment there was no rock, she was rather falling from the sky ready to collide with a tree. "Ahhhh!" She screamed her lungs out as the natural fear of height grabbed her heart. Her body flopped like a sandbag over the branches before she fell to the ground flat on her back. Blood gushed out of her mouth as she coughed it out. Previous injury and the fall had not been good for her fragile human body.
Her vision became hazy as she looked at the moon, which looked different from before. It was bigger than usual, beautiful and scary at the same time.
Raygan did not know what had happened and where she was, but as soon as she heard a wolf's howl, her nerves became alert. This part of the forest was not safe, she thought, and she was already bleeding, making her an easy target. Raygan got up and started limping in the opposite direction. She couldn't believe how worst it was getting for her with every passing minute.
First the guards, now the wolves. She wondered where the guards were, but then again, she had crossed the giant stone, which none of the guards could do with their armours on.
The howl got closer to her and Raygan looked for some place to hide, but was an open ground with scarce trees.
Suddenly, a beast emerged right in front of her from behind the bush. It was a wolf, Raygan could swear it was. But on looking at her, the beast drooled and went on to stand on its hind legs. Its long black claws grew the nails as human flesh was tingling its senses. "You are my prey," the beast telecommunicated, and Raygan could not believe she heard it. Was she dead that she could hear this unusual animal's tongue?
"Please don't hurt me," Raygan muttered under her breath as she stood there as still as she could.
The beast walked on its hind legs and Raygan drew in a sharp breath. Never had she in her entire lifetime heard about a wolf who could walk on its two legs. There was nothing else said or words exchanged between them as she continued to stand still while the beast came forward to her.
Slowly, the beast had covered the distance between them and the only movement Raygan did was of her heaving chest from the ragged breaths.
The huge black beast's snout came close to Raygan's face as it smelled her. He slowly travelled down on her and it could hear how Raygan gulped out of fear. It made the beast salivate on the feared atmosphere which rose in the environment. Raygan closed her eyes as the muscles in her neck strained to keep her standing still. The beast went lower to where the arrow had pierced Raygan and took in the smell of fresh blood.
Its snout touched the wound and Raygan winced in reaction. The wolf beast stood back up to face her and bared his canines, "human..." came the telecommunicated voice.
'It actually communicated with me!' Raygan thought in her mind and quickly turned around to run away from there.
This was the worst, she thought. Maybe she was hallucinating in her dying moment but a communicating wolf who walked like a human on his hind legs scared her soul. Raygan was a rather brave girl, but this was too supernatural to be true for her. It had been just stories about such creatures in the books, but now that she saw one standing right in front of her, she couldn't help but want to run away.
Before she could make her way out of there, the beast dug its claw on her back.
"AHHH!" Raygan screamed as the beast pulled her back to himself. It looked at her as if she was his food and Raygan only thought she would have rather died on the enemy village's scaffold. She did not know where she was and the rock through which she had entered here was nowhere to be seen.
Long where her eyesight could stretch, there was only greenery. She wondered whether it was some kind of dream she was having or had she already died and repenting here for her sins.
But the pain she felt was real. The wound around her abdomen was going numb, but the freshly dug claws in her back ached every breath she took.
"Help!" Raygan scream before she coughed up blood. Her life force was depleting and there was not much left for her. Dying this way would only make her regret, so she started throwing weak punches in the air. The beast turned her to face him and that was when Raygan kicked its face with his kick.
This little was enough to aggravate the beast. Its head had moved to the side from the kick and he looked back at her.
There was a deep growl that the beast emitted before tossing Raygan to the side. Her body rolled twist on the ground before she slid and stopped. Her skin on the right arm had peeled because of the fall and now that she had so many injuries, there was no energy left inside her to be able to run. Even if she ran, she doubted she would ever outrun this unusual beast. It was a fleeting moment for her as she saw the beast approach her with all the rage inside him.
What could possibly save her now? There was no human who could actually fight this creature.
Raygan closed her eyes as the vision of the beast blurred in front of her eyes. There was a loud howl and Raygan felt the ground beneath her vibrate as if a huge horde were running their way. But she was almost unconscious now and let fate take control of whatever was to come next.
When her eyes next opened, there was a gigantic wolf standing in front of her. It was as tall as the beast who stood on its hind legs and they were in a fight.
Raygan could not even begin to comprehend the situation. There were two wolves in front of her, and both were unusual. One of them stood on its hind legs with claw hands and the other one looked very much like an actual wolf, but it was five times the side of an actual wolf. It was so stupid that it made Raygan laugh. She was definitely dreaming, thought Raygan. I wasn't yet that she knew it was real, and thinking of it as a hallucination, Raygan closed her eyes.
There was no more of energy left inside Raygan to hold herself up or keep her eyes open and she fell unconscious. At least it would be better if she were to be eaten after she had died.
