Few hours before the big red moon appeared in the world... Inside a huge skyscraper building that marked the base of a worldwide and one of the renown corporations in the entire world; the Ravner corp.
A female elegant lady sat on the main seat in this huge meeting hall. She looked eighteen years old, brimming with life and beauty. However the air around her made her look like a veteran old lady, someone not to trifled easily with.
Her long brunette hair reached to the middle of her back if left unattended. However she loved to gather a few strands of it into a circle, resembling the full moon.
But she left a few strands loose at the middle, to fall on her back and at her forehead. The few on her forehead were cut regularly to maintain their few millimeters away from her eyelids.
Her faint brown, honey-like eyes were very sharp and intimidating. She seemed to have no muscle at all, no strength at all, mistook for any model in this world thanks to her outstanding and everlasting beauty.
However she wasn't close to any trait like that! She was ruthless, famed to be cold and vengeful. She was the alpha, the leader of the werewolf pack in this country.
"What is this?" she suddenly slammed her little fist over the metalic table to cause a shocking scene to any normal human. Her gentle fist seemed to be like a fist made out of steel, causing that part of the table to dent inside and leave marks on her knuckles and fingers.
The three young men in front her, in their mid-twentieth, trembled out of fear while avoiding meeting her in the eye. Her beautiful face with small features twitched like there was a beast inside on the verge of bursting out.
"I asked for a detailed investigation, not for a simple page with bullshit in it!" she roared and the men in front of her could only bow their heads and say in unison:
"We will do our best."
"I don't need your best," she stood up out of her rage and even her black leathered seat was pushed to the back a couple of meters away. "I want results! Next time I won't go easy on you, this is my promise to you."
She kept glaring at their bowed faces for a long and stressful minute before she slowly grabbed her seat and moved it back in slow motion. The creak sound coming from its contact with the floor added more fear inside them.
"Scram," she waved her hands with disappointed looks while resting again on her seat.
As she gave the order, the three mutts moved as fast as they could, feeling lucky to have their lives still running so far.
"Sister... your voice is heard from across the building," a young man wearing a tight tuxedo stepped in at this moment. He had no similar features to her, however he was good looking in his own accord.
His long hair was left disheveled without any care while his suit was left unbuttoned, showing off his white shirt with the upper three buttons missing and showing his masculine body.
His suit's sleeves were rolled up and showing the unbuttoned sleeves of his shirt. He walked carefree, not intimidated by his sister like others.
"Humph," Anna gave him a warning glance as she wasn't feeling any good at this moment.
"C'mon, what could possibly happen to make you this angry?" her brother, Jeremy, sat on her next seat to the left while leaning to her. "What went wrong?" he touched her arm with his in a gentle way but she shrugged him away.
"See for yourself," she threw the paper she received just now to him in a careless fashion while returning her back to her seat. She took a deep breath while watching her brother's face.
He had no speck of change there, not even a muscle clenched when he read the file.
It was a file report of investigating a missing person, and it contained no information at all.
"So what?" Jeremy turned the paper on its white back, "there is no trace for your promised husband. Why are you so sad about it?"
"He... was supposed to be the alpha, not me!" she gritted her teeth while feeling her wolf power rattling against her will. Any more of this annoying attitude and unpleasant news and she would lose control over herself.
"Sis, you need to learn to control yourself better," Jeremy put his hand in the inside pocket of his suit before taking out a small black envelope, "take this pill now and relax."
She took the envelope and got out a golden crystal clear pill from the inside. It was the pill their latest research developed to control their rage and limit their uncontrolled transformation into wolves.
"I won't rest until I know what happened to him," she put the pill inside her mouth and chewed it like a gum, making the face of her brother change for the first time.
"C'mon, don't be so ruthless to yourself like this. This pill tastes like sh*t. Besides..." he paused before his face turned serious, "if we were ruled by the old laws, then I should be the one sitting on your seat, my dear sis."
Anna looked in silence towards him while her emotions raced up and down inside. The miraculous thing about the drug she took was it worked instantly when ingested.
However she was still feeling uneasy, as what her brother said was true.
"Don't give me that look," Jeremy cracked a calm smile over his face, "you know our family should always rule the pack. Ju was only a good front for our family and by him out of the picture, it's logical for our family to have the throne."
"But you believe it should have been you, right?" Anna directly said what she had in her mind and watched the calm look over her brother's face.
"Sis, c'mon... you know I shouldn't say something like this or the elders might get mad at me," Jeremy stood up and waved his hand to her in a careless way, "see you tonight. Make sure to look fabulous as always."
She watched him leave while she wasn't feeling any better than the moment he arrived.
As she became all alone, she finally could relax her stern face for a bit. Without feeling it she leaned her head on the table while squeezing her temples out of exhaustion and stress.
But she didn't do that for more than a few minutes before consciously retreating her hands and head to the back. She couldn't show any sign of weakness in front of anyone, even her brother.
She knew what he said was true. Her brother was much brutal, far stronger, and more ruthless than her, but he was reckless and dumb.
Thus the elders weren't of any favor to select him as an alpha. In their opinion, he would have been a great alpha if the old rules applied.
But this was a new age, and with the new rules they favored the cunning and scheming alpha more than the strongest.
However deep inside her soul, she wasn't feeling any joy at that. In fact she had many nights standing up all alone while thinking and lamenting her bad luck.
She was born a few centuries away from her brother, but she came at the wrong time as her brother always used to say.
She came when the new age was born, making her real age not differ much from her looks. She was only twenty-five years old, and she was promised to Ju thanks to him being the most cunning werewolf in the entire pack.
But she wasn't feeling happy at all. And even after taking charge of the entire pack, she didn't feel anything but more lonely than ever.
Without knowing it, she moved her hand and touched her heart. Her heart was so fragile like it was made from egg shells. And it had deep cracks all over it.
When she realized her unintentional move, she rapidly moved her hand away while taking deep breaths to control her thoughts and emotions. She pushed away these unpleasant thoughts and doubts deep inside a dark room in her mind.
And as usual she locked it away while hoping to forget the key to open it one day.
"I need to feel scared so I can scare others…" she muttered to herself her own mantra, the phrase her late mother told her a long time ago.
And without knowing it, she moved her hand to touch a golden chain around her neck. It ended up with a small ring, one that could never fit in any of her fingers, even the pinky one.
She got this from her mother when she was only seven years old. At that time her mother was the only person caring about her, while everyone only saw her big brother as a role model and the rising star of the entire pack.
However eventually someone else was selected instead of her brother as an alpha, and she was promised to be his luna.
"Sigh, fate is really cruel," she closed her eyes and shifted her mind away from such thoughts. She had a grand party tonight, a meeting with the heads of other packs in the country.
She hated such meetings. To make these meetings acceptable, she decided to call them parties instead.
Suddenly her ears perked as she heard a muffled sound coming from outside her desk. That drug she just took affected werewolves' supernatural senses as it affected their transformation.
"Is it time already?" she turned to see the clock on the wall before sighing, "it's almost two hours away from noon. Oh, isn't tonight a special one?" she pointed her finger over her chin while repeatedly striking it.
She read this info online before, but she wasn't sure. As the door knocked, she grabbed her phone and started to search for the moon tonight.
"Yeah, it's a big red moon, one that only happens in a century," she felt little excitement about seeing such a phenomenon for the first time.
"But… will it affect us in any way?" she felt hesitant however she couldn't ask anyone, even that butler who just opened the door and entered.
"My lady… your car is ready," the butler, who she didn't address by his real name on purpose, slightly bowed his head in respect as he said that.
She gave him a long glance while checking him from head to toe. This werewolf was once the old beta before retiring and leaving the fighting group.
He served the alphas for generations now, very old and very cunning. By chance she stumbled upon his secret as an agent for the elders.
Since then she started to treat him in more caution, deeply contemplating over any suggestion he made.
To her she was surrounded but many, however she always felt alone.
"Lead the way, butler," she stood up in a strict manner while her eyes were all cold. She returned to wear her cold mask once more, the cold hearted alpha of this generation.
Hi, welcome to my novel.
I know the early chapters might be slightly long, but will try to control the chapters later to be of a moderate length.
The novel events are heading in different paths at the same time. Some characters will appear regularly while others will only have their share of light when they have a role to play.
But in general the chapter titles will have the name of the main character in it, so you won't get distracted.
I hope you like my novel.
