“If I could change it to keep Blanche alive, I would.” Kathy’s voice broke. “I love her. She was my everything. I would…”

“SHUT UP!”

Gemma brought her gun around, pointing it at Kathy through the bars. Nick pointed his gun at her head, pushing Kathy behind him. His heart was racing. He had been shot before, but he had no desire to experience it again. Gemma was breathing heavily, her eyes wild.

“Don’t you talk such foul rubbish!” She hissed, “Blanche wasn’t a lesbian. She had a boyfriend. Him.”

She gestured at Nick with the gun. Nick tensed. The trigger was going to get pulled if she kept doing that.
