His face must have showed his consternation because Gray picked up on it right away. “That’s okay. I know she’s dying. This type of cancer always returns. You can go into remission for five years and it will still come back because the chemo and radiation left one cancer cell in the body. Mom is fighting for a few more good years. She knows what she’s up against and so do I.”
“Why don’t you get Jason or Zach to check your station and we’ll get moving. I’m getting hungry, and I see Jason locking the doors.” Enzo called Jason over.
Enzo watched Zach corner Gray. “I want to talk to you. After you and Enzo had left yesterday, Keith, Bobby, Jason, and I had a meeting. We need a new manager and we’d like to offer the position to you.”
Gray’s eyes opened wide. “You don’t have to do that, there are others who’ve been here longer than I have.”
