His face changed too, his nose grew flatter, fangs shot out of both his lower and upper jaw, and his ears turned pointy like a fucking elf’s. And then there was the hair, of course. Everywhere he had body hair, it grew out more.

Pretty it was not, but Nash had to admit it was useful at times. In his changed form he could trail Arlo without effort, he could see perfectly well in the dark, and there were few obstacles he couldn’t get past. He wasn’t good at climbing and he tended to sink when he tried to swim in this form, but those were the only downsides apart from his appearance. He wouldn’t win any beauty pageants.

Staying in the shadow, he followed Arlo all the way back into town.
