“We do,” Nicolae turned away. “It is Sunday. Tomorrow we go see your parents.”
It felt as though everything inside Dustin’s body shattered. He couldn’t even imagine how he managed to stay standing. “You’re joking, right?”
Nicolae stopped at the door and spoke over his shoulder. “Hurry, Dustin. We’ll only have a few minutes before the rain starts again. And we have a ten minute walk ahead of us.”

“This is a bad idea,” Dustin said for what seemed to be the nineteen-hundredth since they’d woken. He stared out the window of the cab at the freakishly beautiful, intensely terrifying building wherein was housed the creature known as his mother. “You just have no idea…what she’s like…” Nicolae patted the back of his hand absentmindedly and fumbled for the door handle. “I will assume that we’re here?”
Dustin sighed dramatically. “Yes. Damn it. Stay there. I’ll come around.
