I nodded, feeling light-headed and more hopeful than…ever.
“Thanks for dinner,” I remembered to say. He’d paid for it. Like a real date.
“My pleasure.” Casey gave me his heart-stopping smile. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
I opened my apartment door and he waited until I got inside before he turned and walked down the path to his car. 4
Two days later during my evening economics class my phone vibrated, indicating I had a text. I snuck a peek at the screen.
Where are you?
It was from Casey. Yesterday during our shared lunch at the salad place he had asked me my phone information. My pulse instantly raced.
Economics.
I glanced at the professor but she had her back to the class and was writing something on the board as she continued to lecture. My phone buzzed again.
Let’s go to the movies. Leave class.
