Dungeon system Ch 3
*Crack*
A sound of something stepping on the fallen leaves above the ground.
Everything seems quiet and still, but to Ray, who has spent more than a year as cannon fodder in the dungeon, this sound was as clear as ever.
'An animal type.. Wolf type species with a level lower than 5, huh.'
It could be said after increasing his sense stats to 18, Ray's five senses got a lot better, and he could detect the appearance of the danger-beasts more accurately. Sadly, it only worked on a danger-beast with a similar level to Ray, which is also why he couldn't avoid the danger on other paths.
' It's coming!!'
Roar!!!
Ray's senses were right. It was indeed a Wolf species danger beast, and its level should not exceed 5.
He took a big stone from the ground and swung it with all his might towards the direction of the sound.
Crash!!
There was a heavy sound and vibration that shook the ground slightly. The stone hit the wolf directly on its head, and it was thrown away by the strong impact of the crash.
Unfortunately for Ray, the wolf hasn't died yet from that hit.
' One more time.'
In the blink of an eye, Ray had moved several dozen meters away and was swinging the big stone on the Wolf.
BANG!!!
With the power of 20 agility and 16 strength, the wolf didn't have any chance of retaliating before eventually perish at Ray's hand.
Fiuh.. Ray, who just won his first battle, slumped down on the ground. He had been an awakener for years, but that was the first time he won one on one with a danger-beast.
Normally, the danger beast's hide was too thick for him to pierce, and a gun wouldn't be able to damage a danger beast at the slightest.
" Haha.. I won. If I could just have this power since before…"
Ray's imagination came wild, and he couldn't help but visualize a strong version of himself managing a ruin exploration alone.
If I could have this power before, the orphanage wouldn't have to face its current state…
*Sigh* Forget it. His current priority is to safely get away from this place and give the money he obtained to the orphanage manager.
He stood up and cleared his clothes from the dust of the battle.
However, he soon noticed something wrong.
' Wait, normally after defeating a danger-beast, awakener could feel themself absorbed some power of the deceased danger beast. Then why didn't i..'
Ray didn't know why, but he got a bad feeling about this. He opened up his information panel and checked the exp section.
.
[ Ray Sanjaja ]
[ Lv 3 apprentice Awakener ]
[ Exp: 230/3000]

[ Agility: 20 / Dexterity: 18]
[ Intelligence: 10 / Sense: 12]
[ Special skill: F-rank Danger sense]
[ Universal attributes point: 0]
.
No way, why didn't his exp panel increase. Hadn't he just defeated the wolf danger beast..
[ DING!!! The system has detected confusion in the host.]
[ In this special plane, defeating a danger-beast wouldn't grant the host exp. Since the host gets a huge free amount of death, the system has evaluated that it wouldn't be fair if the host were to get exp points here.]
*Sigh* The system words made Ray's happiness instantly vanish. He previously thought that he could exploit the system and raised his level here, but it seems the system has prepared a countermeasure on its own.
He was about to leave the corpse of the danger-beast and continued to go east. But then, he suddenly noticed something was shining beneath the corpse.
Ray was pretty interested in the shining thing. He came closer to the corpse, and when his hand touched the corpse's body.
.
[ DING!!! The loot has been received.]
[ 1x Wolf tooth]
[ 1x Wolf mane]
[ $25 ]
[ All the items looted will be transported into the dungeon inventory. ]
.
An item drop? Ray was getting more confused at the situation he faced right now. He didn't get the exp points like usual in this plane, but instead, he received an item drop.
You need to know that normally a danger beast wouldn't drop loot, but humans could make items from their corpses. For something like money dropping from the corpses, this plane really turned back all his common senses.
[ DING!!! In this plane, since the host couldn't get exp points. The system has decided to compensate the host with item loots. Please work hard.]
Well, at least that's explain something.
Ray stood up after collecting all the loots. His journey to explore the plane just began, and he must not waste any more time.
However, as soon as he turned around, his senses caught up with something.
"Growl!!"
"Grrr…."
"Growl!!"
"Grrr!!!"
Well, now, the wolf he thought was alone actually has a bunch of friends waiting for him.
A wonderfully bright smile bloomed on Ray's face. At a casual glance, there must be over 20 of them here.
Even though Ray couldn't get any exp points from those wolves, he still had many numbers of death count left, and if he was lucky, he could get the loots by killing those wolf.
"I'm getting fire up!!"
Hang on a minute. That's the catchphrase of a fire dragon slayer who powered up with the power of his Nakama.
Whatever.
" Thanks for the meal!"
It was definitely a better catchphrase.
Ray tightly grasped the stone and spoke up. His eyes turned into a crescent, and the way he looked at those danger beasts changed into a swindler looking at their prey.
" Come to Papa, my dear banknotes!"
When the chilling glare of a man who was only obsessed about making money without any care about his own life landed on the Wolf, they became intimidated and shuddered slightly.
It was at this point they know they fucked up.
*Crash* *Bam* *Buk* *Crash*
*****
[ DING!!! You have died again ]
[ Death Count: 13/10000]
[ Returning to the starting place ]
Another dead for Ray. But this time, he died after obtaining many gains.
[ 20x Wolf tooth]
[ 15x Wolf mane]
[ $460 ]
He had finally killed all of the 20 wolf from before. It was also during these few deaths that Ray began to realize something important. When he died in this plane, the time continued, and the wound he left on the wolf didn't disappear.
This discovery lit his eyes. If this was the case, he could find a strong monster and slowly wear it down before eventually tame it as his boss monster.
The only drawback was every time he died, he will be teleported into the starting point, so continuously dying and walking back to the monster location will be a bit of a hassle.
But if he could get a boss monster and finished this mission, it was all worth it. Ray continued his journey to the east side of the plane. He had the choice to go into the north where a strong danger beast resides, but somehow his instinct told him to go east.
'Let's just follow my instinct first. If it doesn't go well, I still have time to check the north.'
He walked the path he took before, and eventually, he reached the location of his battle with the wolf pack.
Ray decided to stop for a while and checked his surrounding. For a pack of 20 wolves to come here and ambushed him, Ray could not think other reason than there should be a bigger wolf pack near this place.
And if that was true, there should be a Boss-Caliber monster amongst the pack, which maybe he could tame as his boss monster.
He searched for some traces around, and he found a narrow path amongst the tree.
This should be the way to the wolf camp, he thought. It might be strange before the era of awakening if an animal could make a road like this. However, after the era of awakening, danger beasts started to grow more intelligent, and a boss caliber monster could have the intelligence of a normal grown-up human.
Ray understood that staying here would give him no result. Even if the path forward was dangerous, he could still be revived. Thus he walked the narrow path and tried to find out where the path would lead him.
