Capítulo 44: Internships with Last laser: Part 3
The next day, and after trying for several more hours, Doryoku was able to identify 5 of the 7 informants around the home, basically because the newest one seemed to take a break.
Even so, Doryoku kept trying to identify the last two missing, which seemed impossible, since all the time their positions changed and the presence of each one was almost nil, to the point where any progress disappeared in a short time.
"Hey kid, you told me you found the rookies right? Why are you still sitting there?" Last laser asked getting Doryoku's attention with some confusion.
"I still haven't discovered the last two that are missing Laser-sensei" Doryoku said somewhat confused also by Last laser's words.
"And you won't find them, they may not be the best in the world but their talent is much higher than average, to detect them you will need experience and in that you are completely null" Last laser said with an explanatory tone while Doryoku understood better the difficulty of the subject.
'Hell, I talked about the talent, I should stay away from command' thought Last laser with some annoyance and instinctively remembering his noisy friend.
"Anyway, you passed the first test and you did quite well as always, now we will talk about something simple but very important that is usually forgotten for your second test" Last laser said sitting a few meters in front of Doryoku while the latter listened carefully.
"Which branch would you feel more comfortable in? Strength, endurance, speed or stealth" Last laser said raising four of his fingers as Doryoku leaned his head to the side in doubt.
At that response, Last Laser heaved a tired sigh and decided to give a brief explanation.
"A hero must know what he wants to specialize in and what is the most suitable style of combat for his quirk, and the simplest way is to choose one of those four main branches" Last laser said quite calmly as he explained in a calm and simple way.
"You in particular have many options, you can choose strength since the ability you used with Command is basically an attack that can hurt anyone, use speed since you don't even get tired running or even stealth since your quirk could make you walk without cause any noise or movement" Last laser said as he counted each current quality of Doryoku's quirk to give him an idea.
"You will have to decide what you should focus your combat on, otherwise you would be a disaster, although if you need a recommendation I would say choose resistance" Last laser said shrugging his shoulders while giving a recommendation and Doryoku had a quite simple expression to read that said 'why?'.
"Let's be honest boy, you're a stone in anyone's shoe" Last laser said straight to the point and pointing at Doryoku.
"Ummm, ouch?" Doryoku said not really knowing how to feel about that comparison.
"I don't mean that, I mean that against an opponent who could resist any common blow without even getting tired and even gaining more strength and understanding at all times of combat is horrible for anyone" Last laser said calmly as Doryoku understood the point after his battle against High command.
"You only have two weaknesses, stabbing and emitting attacks and in both cases the users of these quirks are very bad physically, there are always exceptions but it's usually like that" Last laser said explaining his point and giving great importance to the exceptions part.
"There's always going to be some maniac that your normal fighting style doesn't work with, but you can't just wait for that maniac, so it's best to always have a predetermined way of fighting and a backup plan just in case" Last laser said as Doryoku nodded in agreement with the idea of always being prepared for disaster.
"I think the best option is resistance too Laser-sensei, is there anything in particular I should do?" Doryoku said quite agreeing with the idea and looking for clues as to what his training would be like.
"Not really, it's very easy to implement resistance in a fight, much more if your quirk is on your side, just make them lose their energy and overwhelm the enemy with your own infinite energy, that's enough" Last laser said without having anything more up his sleeve this time as Doryoku got the point as usual.
"The rest of the day can be taken as a break to meditate on everything you have learned, too much information at the same time will only make you not process anything" said Last laser getting up from the ground and walking towards the upper floor to rest.
Doryoku just stood there, not knowing exactly what to do.
Maybe... A staring contest with the ceiling would be nice...

A couple of hours after doing nothing and just staring at the ceiling menacingly, Doryoku decided to eat something since his mother advised him to worry more about feeding himself.
After preparing lunch and eating, Doryoku was doing the most complex thing, arranging everything with a square in his hand.
"Oh no, the butter container is round, how am I supposed to fit it?" Doryoku said meeting an unknown with an expression of utter disgrace.
In addition to the square being much less exact, the butter container was the same on both sides, and Doryoku had no idea how to fix that.
For a normal person it would be as simple as making it as straight as possible on one random side, but for Doryoku...
'Where is the barcode?' Doryoku thought coming up with a possible solution as he turned it over and thoroughly investigated the container.
And when finding the barcode another question arose...
'Does the barcode go on the front or back of the product?' Doryoku thought overthinking too much and having analysis paralysis.
Anyway, after quite a serious debate in Doryoku's mind, and several tests with other products, he finally managed to accommodate the container satisfactorily, having a wide smile of pride.
"It's at 44°, it's still inaccurate by a bit" Last laser said in a cruel way which seemed quite amused by the strange situation.
Doryoku looked up his squad again and realized it was true, it was 44° since he was more focused on the barcode part.
'I think I'm going to cry' Doryoku thought with a bit of confusion as he felt what he imagined was very melodramatic sadness.
After arranging everything perfectly, Last laser seemed to leave again, but before that Doryoku stopped him.
"Laser-sensei, I have a question about my training" Doryoku said with a calm tone and some curiosity as Last laser turned around to say...
"I already told you that you should take a break boy, being SO psychotic won't do you any good" Last laser said with a warning tone as Doryoku shook his head.
"It's not that, I know when to rest, but I wanted to know why my training is so particular" Doryoku said with a lot of confusion while Last laser listened attentively.
"You see, when I talked to Oboro he said that he learned a lot of things related to the law and even police things, as well as practicing physically to improve his quirk, and although I understand that each person is different, I thought that at least I would learn some of that" Doryoku said in an explanatory tone as he remembered everything he had discussed with Oboro about his internships.
"It's not something worth repeating, you'll see things like that in your second and third heroic year ad nauseam" Last laser said while explaining his rather valid point of view.
"Besides, it's something very simple to understand, as much as it is to know what a villain is for society" said Last laser shrugging his shoulders without giving it much importance.
"What is a villain for the society?" Doryoku asked suddenly curiously taking Last Laser genuinely by surprise.
"Didn't they tell you about villains in high school?" Last laser said even slightly indignant at seeing the lack of basic knowledge of Doryoku.
"Yes, the villains are those who break the rules and ignore the laws doing things like stealing or using their quirks without a license" Doryoku said with enough confidence while now the confused one was Last laser.
"But I would like to know, are people like that really considered villains to the world?" Doryoku said searching for answers and rambling while Last laser listened very carefully.
"What if they're hungry or needy and all they can do is steal and use their quirk which is all they have? What if you just use your quirk for good but don't have a chance to get a license because of your lack of qualities or just luck? Are those really villains?" Doryoku said thinking of several possible situations that puzzled him.
"You're entering a very muddy field boy, tell me, what is an example of a villain for you?" Last laser said quite seriously as Doryoku thought about it a bit.
"Someone who kills or causes irreversible damage to another person, both physically and mentally, that's a villain for me" Doryoku said quite sure of his words despite the pressure that Last laser's gaze exerted.
"It's much simpler to follow the laws boy, if you break the law in any way and worse by using your quirk, you will go to jail, that's how society works today" Last laser said with a warning tone and still quite serious.
"Laser-sensei, something I learned after so long without feeling for myself, I don't know if for better or for worse, is that I couldn't care less what society thinks" Doryoku said being adamant in that regard, one of the few times, if not the only time, when he did not consider someone else's opinion.
Last laser planted his gaze on the boy for a moment that seemed eternal, until...
"Pfffff, hehehehehe" Last laser said as he covered his mouth and lightly laughed while Doryoku was quite confused for various reasons.
"Hehehe, that way of thinking is not currently found, I would say that only those of us who have lived for a long time think like that" Last laser said, quite amused as he spoke slowly.
"Boy, the world wants to continue in peace, that's why there are so many limitations, and it's quite common and acceptable, but people forget what a true villain is and they give it the same importance as a simple thief" said Last laser smiling slightly and in an explanatory tone.
"Everyone follows what others say and doesn't think for themselves, 'saving others from the terrible villains' is like saying that they are not people the same as us for the most part" Last laser said with a little more seriousness as Doryoku nodded in agreement.
"Your way of thinking is not correct for a professional hero, but it is for a true hero, and that is something I have to admit to you" Last laser said with a lot of recognition and making Doryoku quite surprised.
"Even so I recommend you not to say this to anyone or you will surely go to jail, save the people you think are worth saving, after all there are many heroes in the main streets" Last laser said with an explanatory tone and then left upstairs to go back to work.
Just as Last laser departed, Doryoku held his chest and caught his breath after that difficult situation.
"Pfffff, I thought I was going to pass out" Doryoku said holding onto a table and almost falling to the ground after all the pressure due to the seriousness of the moment.
Still, Doryoku felt quite good to see that he wasn't wrong, and even somewhat proud to see that someone like Last laser thought the same as him.
Anyway, after this Doryoku went to the living room and threw himself on the sofa to really rest after all that.
