Duke carried me from the bathroom and placed me on the bed gently like I was made of snowflakes that might scatter at the slightest force.

He laid next to me and stared at me with an intensity that created goosebumps on my skin.

Everything around us stilled, and I wondered if he could hear my wild heartbeats.

Now that it was just the two of us, facing each other, I realized that Duke's presence changed.
