Calamity hastened to help her up and then called someone to send her back.
Tanner was not cooperative as a drunkard, keeping murmuring "bad guys" and shaking her fists as well as her feet at those who were ordered to send her back. Finally, it was the experienced Miranda who stepped forward and spoke low in her ear, "Quiet! I'm now going to take you to that bad guy!” Immediately Tanner calmed down and stood still, her head drooping, panting.
Several servants hurriedly stepped forward and carried her out. With the effects of alcohol wearing off, she had to tide up the mess; the maids came in and intended to clean up, but she squatted down and demanded, "You all get out!"
The maid, Zoe who was serving in the inner palace, had no hesitation in kneeling down with others behind her. "Master, do we serve you poorly?" asked she, in terror.
Calamity paused and squeezed out a soft smile. "No, I just want to be alone!" explained she.
