Calamity calmed herself down, called Tanner inside and whispered a few words to her. Tanner had a frown. “You could escape tonight, what about next time?”
Calamity made a sigh. “We’ll worry about it then.”
Tanner gritted his teeth and said, “You don’t need to be so aggrieved, master. You can leave the palace and ignore him. The King shouldn’t treat you like this. You are the leader of the Crouching Lion Faction and the benefactor of the royal family.”
Calamity looked at Tanner and said, “With my capacity now, it's very easy for me to leave. However, did you forget that Queen Eliza asked me to protect her two grandchildren before her death? How could I go without realizing my promise? It's easy for me to leave. If I left this mess for their brothers to clean up, won’t I fail to live up to Queen Eliza’s great trust?”
Tanner had no choice but to say, “You are enslaved by others right now. We subordinates couldn’t help but feel sorry for you.”
