By the time Zok and Shira got to know each other properly, night had already conquered the skies. Zok had managed to lit up a small fire on which they were roasting meat to have for supper. In the meantime, Shira had a lot of interesting things to tell him.

One of which was revealing the fact that just like he could communicate with the Depraved one through the strange letters, Shira too could communicate with him. However, instead of conversing in writing, she could hear the Depraved one talk and according to her, everyone from her tribe could do so as well.
