Capítulo 29: Nano Tech

Chapter 29

Life in the shelter was a little depressing as my arm was not healing as expected. In two weeks My bones should have been growing, but my scans showed necrosis instead. I had to undergo another surgery. They had to place a metal rod for my bones to grow onto. They also removed some of the muscles which were already rotting due to severe trauma of the previous operation.

The shelter had been receiving aid from outside source. They called themselves the resistance They had been sending different techs to advance the shelter's military protection. Queencie was one of the happiest to make more technological advancements. The sky was her limit from weapons to aircrafts. She was designing and the people from the resistance were delivering their resources to produce her techs.

Queencie, the granddaughter of my father's boss, has been a techno geek and an inventor since toddler years. She grew up in the laboratory of her grandfather who raised her. People were talking about her as his greatest work. I never really cared about that, because she was a sister to me since my dad introduced her to us in one of their work get together. She would spend summer time with us during her elementary days and eventually she had to live in a house across from us when she started high school. I never understood why she became my classmate even before she started being a teen. But I looked out for her in school, in everything actually. I was her anti-bully mascot. Queencie had been that little kid who needed protection during our military training. Perhaps that was why we bonded more than the others.

"Tita!" She arrived at our house calling and waving at my mom who was teaching the kids from the orphanage how to grow their own vegetables in the front lawn. Jim was tailing her. I couldn't believe he's working as Queen's assistant now. He hasn't been around much. But he's come home once in a while. "Yo, Fran!" She greeted me entering my room. "Still moping around?"

I raised my bandaged left arm which earlier that day had been hurting like a bitch. "High in Norco." I replied to her grinning showing of my prescribed narcotics laying a mess on my bedside table. I've got a bunch of painkillers dispensed to my name, most of them so powerful making me high. "I think I'd be crippled after this. They had to remove a bunch of my dead tissues and muscles."

"That's why I'm here." She pulled a chair and sat in front of me, looking serious. "I have a proposition to make."

"I'm listening." I said, easing my arm on my side, being so careful not to accidentally poke it with something. "If you want to make my arm bionic, I'll kick you out I swear!"

She rolled her eyes and sighed, "Well, I'll scratch that out in the agenda for now." I knew she was working on cybernetic enhancements on injured military soldiers. Jim suddenly threw a folder on my lap. He was leaning on the door frame just looking all serious because it was his job."That's one of my grandfather's works on Cell Regeneration. I thought you'd be interested."

I looked inside and started reading. Her grandfather was one of the leading geneticists. Of course she'll have his works stored in her humongous system unit. "So you want to implant in me some experimental muscles you grew from your test tubes?"

She shrugged, "Something like that. It would also help you heal up faster with the nano tech I'm planning to program on it." she was grinning.

"You sure you won't control me with your nano tech?" I was a bit suspicious of her. She always has that evil scientist vibe on her, which she would supplement with a sardonic smile and a cute evil laugh.

"Why the heck would I want to control a woman when I can control men to be my pets?" She one of her brows, talking like I'm useless to her being a woman. "Those nano techs will be disposed of by your immune system when they finish their tasks."

I looked at Jim and gave him a suspicious expression. "Why are you into this? You don't want me in this house anymore?" I teased him with a pout on my face.

He walked towards my bed and sat beside me. "Sis, what she's offering can save your arm." He reasoned out. "I mean It could also enhance your bone growth." He said pointing at the paper he gave me. "You'll be well enough to do normal stuff in a month after this operation."

Who wouldn't want that? To do normal things in a month's time, whatever experimentation they wanted to do on me, I was already willing to do it right then and there. I wanted to do the thing I did best, protecting the ones I love.
