That night she cuddled into him in the curtainless bedroom. He watched her sleeping. The beautiful smile weakened his knees, and he remembered the first day he saw her, the same day he had lost his heart in the elevator. It was only eight months ago, and now, she was his wife, his life. Tracing her high cheekbone, she sighed contently as she shifted closer to him.
He was one lucky man.
"Why was she crying, Dad?" Jillian had asked when they went with him to the shops.
"This is her first home, Pumpkin. She's emotional about it."
"It's strange to cry about it. Don't they have homes in South Africa?"
"Of course, they do. Sonia had a tough time since the death of her parents and never had a home till now."
"That must be a long time," Mark said.
"Her parents died when she was sixteen. Since then she is all alone." Silence ensued as they paid at the till, all three lost in thought.
"Please help her to feel welcome. I depend on your guys," he said once they were back in the car.
