Ryley blinked his eyes a few times, unable to proceed what Clyde had just said. 

And before he could figure out the odds in the man's words, Clyde had added, "My sister actually asked me to protect you before. She didn't know the truth of the drugging incident or the previous kidnapping, but she entrusted you to me."

Hearing this, the blond's lips went agape. He recalled that Claire Morrison also said a similar thing before, that he could trust her brother if he ran into him again or in need of protection.

But why did Clyde suddenly offer him this?

Could it be that the man knew he was up to something? No! Impossible! 

Ryley didn't tell Clyde about his plan, or the fact that he wanted to use Lucas in his ploy. Still, wasn't this too much of a good coincidence?

Something was definitely off about it but Ryley couldn't see the lie in the man's words.
