Idk what I was taking when I was making this chapter.
Like I tried to make it funny but at the same time serious.
Just contradicts itself so much.
And the funny parts aren't even funny.
It's definitely not my best work.
Just try to ignore the cringey parts.
I'll edit it in the future but for now enjoy.

At the Hunters Guild Headquarters, inside the Guild Master's office was Cha Hae-In with Choi Jong-In. He was in a white suit as he gazed at his windows showing that it was night with the beautiful bright city still filled with lights.
This was a few days after they returned Korea and exterminated the unidentified S-rank monster that came out of a Red Gate.
"Chae Hae-In, why did you become a hunter?" Choi asked still gazing outside the window.
"Pardon?" Chae asked surprised by the sudden question.
"You were recognized as an S-rank hunter after you were measured by the machine. In a fight, you are probably the strongest Korean hunter. Go Gunhee is too old for his age so he can't be considered the strongest. His stamina is hitting rock bottom."
His eyes closed as he reminisced an old S-rank hunter that had been killed in Jeju Island.
"But why did you become a hunter? Was it for fame? Money? Strength? Or did you just enjoy the feeling of being able to release your powers while facing monsters."
"...Responsibility. I think those in powers should use it to maintain order and not cause chaos with it." She looked up to see him still staring at the city. "And what is your reason? Did you do it for justice?"
He chuckled hearing her question. "Nothing of the sort. I wanted to show people that I was more than just a smart man. That I had power behind my brains. That I could back up my claims."
Chae raised her eyebrows in surprise. "That is a more selfish reason than I expected."
"It sure is. But just because that was my original goal doesn't mean that it hasn't changed."
"Has it changed?"
Turning around, Choi could see her interested in this conversation. Normally, she wouldn't bother with anything if it didn't concern the safety of others. She was the definition of a holy knight. A Paladin.
"It did. I like doing this because I can now see people counting on us now. They lay their trust on us. Their lives on us. As a top guild of a country, it is our responsibility to have them rely on us. And it is our responsibility to protect them."
He pulled up a piece of documents from his drawer and showed it to her. "Which is why we should remove all threats to our people. Letting that monster go loose would not only damage our reputation but kill those people who believed in us."
Chae received the documents and saw it was named 'Unregistered S-rank Monster'. "Tell me Chae Hae-In. Do you believe that you could of won against him on a one on one. Alone with no help and no outside factors."
"Yes, I do." She said this without hesitation.
"Confidence is good but the truth is we haven't seen its full strength. We found that it was fighting the ants for a while and it was most likely exhausted. Research says that three of those ants were S-rank and though they aren't strong like us, they still have the magical capability to be S-rank."
"I read the report as well. Still I do think I would of won. My ability of mana smell is something that let's one be able to tell how strong one is. From it's smell, I'd say it is just a bit weaker than you and GuildMaster Baek Yoonho." Her eyes showed that she was firm on this opinion.
Choi Jong-In released his magic and had a dangerous glint in his eyes. This pressure would make even A-rank sweat when on the receiving end of it. "Chae Hae-In, would you go to a guild that will help you with your goal and leave this one?"
"Without a doubt. Although I respect you GuildMaster, I still have my freedom. I want to accomplish my goal to help people. If what I need is to break our friendship then I'm sorry."
Seeing her confidence, he was more relaxed and stopped. "I know. I was just testing you. You may go now."
Chae Hae-In bowed respectfully and left the room after closing the door. With himself alone, Choi was in his thoughts as he remembered the last moments of the monster.
He couldn't see it due to his flame dragon engulfing it completely but he could tell that this one was intelligent. It wasn't mindless like most monsters and didn't go after humans despite being a monster and instead ran away.
'It was not mindless. That thing was smart enough to make decision of its own. When sensing humans, instead of attacking them immediately, it ran away knowing that it couldn't win. I wonder... if that monster was still alive. What kind of monstruous actions would it be making right now.'

Dante POV-
I am currently naked.
Well half naked.
I was in a tub filled with water and there were women washing my body.
Though it may sound pleasant, which it was, this situation wasn't exactly voluntary.
It all happened earlier this morning.
Back in the apartment, Yoo Soohyun just said something preposterous.
"What?" I asked completely baffled at what she was asking me.
"That's right. Pay me back with your body." She looked very serious. So serious in sent chills down my spine.
"...thanks for all the help but I've got to go to the slums." I made a beeline for it and ran outside the house. I was not going to sell my body for money!
"Wait! That's not what I meant!" I heard her say this as she followed me.
"Then do I have to get naked for this?!" I asked still running outside.
We were in her backyard now but I jumped over her fence. "Uhh... well yes but-"
"Yeah I'm not looking for a sugar mom."
Seeing me not accepting this, she finally mustered up her courage as she screamed. "I want you for modeling!"
I turned back and saw her appearing in front of me. I knew it. She was a hunter. A-rank would be what I expect from what I can sense. "What? Me? Why don't you pick someone else, I'm sure you've got better models."
'Have you seen yourself?!' Yoo Soohyun screamed in her mind.
"Ahem. You just need to get yourself clean and some good clothes. Then you'll be able to model."
"I don't want to be a model." I refused. Power was what I need now. And to do that I need achievements that were worthy of being recognized by the system.
"Just once! One time and that's all. We'll give you your pay as well. I won't take it. I just want you to model for me and that's all." She desperately said as she grabbed both my shoulders while shaking them.
I eventually gave in as I listened to her suggestion. "*Sigh* How much for one day." I did need that money for myself.
"Well how about 7 million won." Soohyun replied.
So 1 USD is equal to about 1185 WON and 1 USD is equal to 113 YEN so converting that would mean about 10.40 WON which means 70 million WON is equal to about 667 thousand YEN.
{5,892.80 USD.}
Does modelling really give you that much money? Money was important for now, I might need to buy some things like a house to live in and to take Gates, money was important.
This wasn't a bad deal at all for now. Maybe I should also get tested as a hunter.
I looked back at her only to see her with shining eyes looking at me. She really wanted me to accept this, huh. "Well I don't mind helping someone that is desperately asking for my help. As a good citizen, I have to be nice to others."
"Shamelessly Greedy." She smirked.
"I'm homeless like you said. Of course I'm in need of money." That would be my image for now. Though I don't like it, it will do. Speaking of image, I don't have any identity. I might need to get that.
"Then you need a makeover to do this." Soohyun said as she was eyeing my body.
A what?
"And a shower. Some clothes and everything really."
This woman is way too serious about this. I mean how hard can it be to prepare to model. It's not like its the most serious job in the world. I'll be fine.
How hard can it be?
--------------------------------------------------
2 hours later...
I was so wrong...
This woman sent people here to give me a 'makeover' and just left! Said something about going outside to get new clothes or something.
They gave me a shower with no respect for privacy and are just so rough with their hands.
It's like they're trying to rip out my hair!
I know it's dirty since I didn't wash for 7 days but c'mon! I'm not that bad.
After they finished, they left the house leaving me in the bathroom alone.
"Finally! And here I thought I couldn't get annoyed with my motivation skill. I guess even Vergil was annoyed by Dante's actions."
I said as I looked down at the water reflecting my face. It was a different face then I was used to. Even my body was different than I was used to since Dante. My ideal look. I guess I'm getting more and more greedy.
System.
[Name: Dante
Race: Half Human/Demon Compatibility 17.9% (Disguised Human)
Gender: Male
Items: Ebony & Ivory, Dante's Outfit, Red Queen, Nero's Headphones, Kyrie's Angelic Necklace, V's Book, Jester's Mask
Skill: Vergil's Motivation, Dante's Flamboyance, Trish' Lightning, Angelo]
Jester's Mask is something I am currently wearing making me able to mask myself. It also is saying that I'm disguising myself as a human which means I'm not really one.
But I haven't tested the last reward I got.
"Angelo." I mumbled.
Sparks of dark purple lightning and a shadow from my own appeared before me. It gathered towards to two spots like black holes until two new figures appeared.
One was a hawk with a dark blue plumage. Its eyes have three golden pupils each and its beak is weird as it was 3 breaks in a mandible configuration.
The other was a black large jaguar with muscular forelimbs, and red eyes with visible white sclera. Its body features glowing lines pulsating faintly whenever it moves. It seemed to blend in with shadows.
This bird's name was Griffon and the panther was Shadow. Two of the three creatures that burst forth from Vergil's thoughts as Nelo Angelo.
"And here I thought I'd never get summoned. What took you so long Dante?" Griffon said with its iconic voice. It was a mix of sarcasm and surprise.
But what was interesting about his voice was the fact that Griffon was speaking to me telepathically. I never really put much thought to it but his voice in-game did always have this weird echo. Maybe it was a sign to say that this bird was speaking in the mind.
And it knows I'm Dante despite looking like this. Well it is my summon so it should know about me.
"You're as loud here as in the game, little chicken." I said as I transformed back to my Dante look.
Griffon smirked hearing my response. "Heh. Stop acting like the real Dante and act like yourself. I'm part of you after all so I know Dante's skill isn't taking effect right now. Only in conflicts."
So Griffon knew more than I thought, it knows my skills and most probably my system since it knows the item I hold. "I hate smartasses. They really know how to annoy me."
"But they're also quite useful too. So go on, ask me the question you've been waiting for." Griffon was the only one of the three familiars who knew how to speak. The other two had intelligence but had no ability to talk.
Shadow came near me as if asking for pat to which I started doing. It was really cute for something that could kill you in an instant.
I looked at Griffon to see it still flapping and looking at me straight in the eyes. "How do I retain my humanity?" I asked seriously. The description for the skill was not a good thing for him so knowing more would be better.
"I don't know." He shrugged as he landed on my shoulder.
"What? You don't know."
Seeing my confusion, Griffon began cackling. "Everyone has a different meaning of humanity. Not in the way they define it but in the way they view it. To someone else, their humanity could be nobility and honor fighting for others and not themselves. They are selfless and will sacrifice their lives to save others."
That was true. A lot of people see humanity as in their race of humans. They see their humanity as protecting the human civilization.
"But to you, your humanity doesn't lie in that, does it?" Hearing this, I narrowed down my eyes at him. "Your humanity is your friends. The bond that you have created for over a decade. Nothing else matters to you so to you losing them means losing your humanity."
"But that means that I can do everything it takes to get to them. I don't need to be good and interact with other humans here then. I can just kill everyone in my way and take everything I need."
"Sure you can. But you'll lose your humanity."
"How so?"
"Well you'll either die by the Rulers or Monarchs. Right now, you're awfully weak. Nothing compared to the real Dante or Vergil. Annoy one of them and you'll get a sword stabbed in the head."
"Fair enough." It was true. I didn't stand a chance against any of them yet. It was better to not annoy them yet.
Griffon continued on with his explanation. "But what I'm really talking about is the act of retaining it. What you want is to get out of this world but to you, in order to do so, you need to kill. And killing will not only make you lose yourself. But gaining that power would corrupt you. Vergil is a prime example of that. Do you think when he set off on the path of power that he immediately became what he was now? No, that was the accumulation of despair and anger."
Griffon's expression darkened. "Sacrificing everything he had for an ideal that in truth he didn't really believe in. One might say he brainwashed himself to believe in it. A man so desperate to leave his past that he tried to gain supreme power. Power to rule the world so that he could never suffer once more."
"And there's also your friends. In truth, you're scared that if they find out about your actions here then they'll fear you. You won't be their friends anymore, right? No, you'll be the monster that will terrify them. The nightmare fuel in their dreams."
This hawk really was a bit too smart. Even if it knew me, he was able to find out my insecurities and problems. "Then I'll just hide the fact that I killed them. Seems simple enough."
"And you think they won't know? Remember how you got here in the first place. Your friends will go to their own world and go on their own adventure. One of them will maybe gain power beyond what you can think. Finding your dirty little secret would be child's play to a being like a God. Are you willing to take that risk?"
I clicked my tongue and bit my finger. And this wasn't even all. There were plenty of people that died in that explosion. The angel or whatever it was never told me the limit of what other people could become on their own. That meant that someone could gain a far superior power than I did.
And if they found me then I'll maybe be targeted by them.
"Despite becoming a demon, my life just keeps getting more and more annoying."
Griffon chuckled hearing my response. "That's life. Deal with it."
