Iola’s worried eyes were on her face. “Neivayka, are you alright? What happened?”

Neivayka’s breath was coming out in gasps as she looked around the room once more, not quite believing that she was back. Or maybe that she had been gone? She didn’t know; all she cared about was that she felt safe again.

“What… the heck… is going on?” she panted out at Iola.

Iola gave her a sad look and helped her back up on the bed. The fact that she couldn't remember falling out of it was more than a bit disconcerting for her.

“Sit here while I explain,” Iola said softly.

“I’m not dead?” Neivayka asked, jumping into it before Iola had a chance to back out.

“No… Your body is alive, and so is your soul. But… they are separated.”

“How did this happen?”
