Just before Flynn left for the soundcheck Niven took Liam to the Venetian Hotel to wander around. I went over to Flynn and sat on his lap. He was slow to look me in the eye, so I tilted his head back until his gorgeous green eyes met mine.
I adored him. "Sorry, baby. I love you so much. Nothing has changed between us. You're my world. I need you to know that."
"Yeah, you said," Flynn answered flatly, setting me aside as he stood and shrugged himself into his leather jacket, picked up a wad of hundred dollar bills and stuffed them into his back pocket. "I'm gonna head off to the soundcheck and give you that time to breathe, Valerie," he said in a snarky tone. Hearing him speak to me this way, hit me square in the chest and there was no way I'd him leave like that for a performance when it was my fault he was so down. Had I not involved Keller, there was no question I'd have accepted Flynn's proposal on the spot.
