Doc started to lead the way down a side hall and toward an angled floor. It was like a ramp of some sort that was here in lieu of the stairs.

"I didn't think that there would be something like this here. Why would they have a ramp to go up to the other floors?" I was kind of glad that there weren't any other people around. My question, after it was past my lips, made me feel glaringly stupid. My lack of knowledge of this place was going to make me stand out too much.
