Night slowly begins to fall. The Sun is going to set to make way for its sister, who wakes up slowly. The Moon rises in the sky and illuminates the world with its soft white light. The starry sky lit up a traditional mansion made of wood and stone. The mansion is quiet. The silence of the night is installed. In front of the small wall that surrounds the mansion are two guards who guard the gate. Several pairs of guards patrol the wall. In the courtyard of the mansion, other duos of guards patrol. The guards make rounds before returning to their places or returning to the guard post to rest after their shifts. Several braziers are dispensed throughout the bay to illuminate the area, ensuring that the guards do not need to encumber themselves with torches.
The night is cold with a wind blowing moving the trees and making the flames of the braziers flicker. The flames of the braziers make the shadows of the guards and things around the dance. Inside the mansion, a nocturnal silence reigns. You can hear the sound of footsteps of guards patrolling the halls of the mansion. As well as the sounds of the wind blowing through the leaves of the trees. Other than the guards, some housekeepers and butlers can be seen getting ready for their business even though it has been dark for several hours. The nobles, for their part, are in their warm beds, sleeping peacefully without a hint of worry.
A duo of guards makes their rounds in the eastern part of the manor, where the library, the study room, the lord's solar, and other administrative rooms are located. One of the guards stops in front of the solar of the lord of the noble house. His colleague looks at him.
"Why are you stopping? Our shift is almost over. Hurry up. I want to finish the round so I can go home and sleep with my wife." declare the guard to his colleague with your press.
The guard does not answer his colleague and opens the solar door. He looks inside.
"But what are you doing? Are you crazy or what. We are forbidden to enter the administrative rooms of the mansion without permission. Do you want us to be killed?" The guard looks around to see if anyone has seen them, but luckily for him, there is no one around but them.
"Nothing, nothing. I thought I heard a noise in the Lord's sun. I must be hallucinating from fatigue from our busy schedule lately." the guard replied tiredly to his worried colleague.
"Alright, but don't do that again. Besides, you know the Lord is sleeping at this hour. So there can't be anyone in the room." retorts the guard. The two guards continue their rounds and move away from the administrative part of the mansion. You can at least hear them talking about their jobs, complaining about their endless working hours, overwork, and other trivial things.
In the study room of the noble lord of the house, darkness hangs with calming silence. From the window behind the desk in front of the door, the flames of the braziers move the shadows of the guards cast on the desk. Two shadows emerge from the ceiling of the room. The two shadows are dressed in black clothes that cover their entire body and leave no trace of skin exposed, hiding their identities. One of the silhouettes looks at the other, who dodges his gaze. The two begin to speak in sign language, not utter any sounds, and be spotted by the patrols. Both know that they shouldn't be able to do it because of the dark but still can, so FUCK.
"We were on the verge of getting caught because of you." says one of the figures in sign language
"Sorry, I didn't know the door would make so much noise that you would hear a small, high-pitched sound even with a sound barrier." the other person answers.
They continue to argue for a moment before heading to one of the bookcases in the room and walking through. They enter a secret room with torches on the wall and a table in the center of the room with various chairs around it. At the back of the room stands a large wooden chest with several visible metal hinges. The two search the room for the smallest hidden things, but they don't end up finding anything. The two spies walked over to the sturdy chest, which is the only furniture in the room apart from the table and chairs. The spies position themselves in front of the safe. One of them casts several spells and casts them on the chest to detect any traps, alarms, or other defensive elements that may be placed on the chest. There is nothing on the trunk to their happiness and confusion, no trace of any defensive device. The two wonder if the mansion owner is either very dumb or just stupidly arrogant. The answer is surely both.
They open the safe and find several letters, reports,s and other written manuscripts incriminating the nobleman and others of plotting against the king and undertaking a coup against the crown. However, they take the entire documents and instead place false documents with a weak illusion spell to deceive the nobleman, and the spell lasts a long time due to its low magic consumption.
The spies come out of the secret room, close it behind them silently this time and run away from the mansion undetected by the guards.
