Day began early in hospital. By six-thirty she had been transferred, feeling like a fraud for the careful handling and constant concern. She thought she was well enough to go home and said so, first to the nurses on duty and later to the doctor doing his rounds. He at least gave it some consideration before saying no, at which she said she'd do much better in her own home and bed seeing how there wasn't that much wrong with her. She was relieved when he changed his mind and agreed and pleased with herself for getting him to say, 'Tomorrow.'
'Tomorrow', she repeated to the sister accompanying him, who dimpled and said, 'We heard.' That being the case, hoisting herself out of bed and into the shower was a must.
