Once his sight had adjusted he took stock. At one time the place had been gutted and rebuilt as open plan. The lack of furniture contributed to a feeling of spaciousness. He was standing on slate, with carpet to his right. A door off to the right would lead to the kitchen. He investigated. Very modern. White and stainless steel. Back in the main living area he peered between full-length curtains that screened a wall of glass. Outside was a long narrow pool and paved patio. The pool water was black polish, the moon's reflection round and bright.
Upstairs were two bedrooms and a bathroom. The largest room had an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe. The whole place had been thoroughly cleaned out.
