When did Percy become an expert on human behavior? This was the same kid who didn't understand why he shouldn't say the first thing that popped into his head or that he was supposed to turn people down nicely when he didn't want to do something. 

Penelope had spent many years coaching him on how to get by in human society because he simply couldn't be bothered to figure out other people's feelings or motivations. Now he was dissecting the motivations of someone he hadn't even met? 

"He can't like me!" she insisted. "That's completely crazy. He offered to get my car towed on the day we met. How could he like me before we even had a proper conversation?"

Percy shrugged. "How am I supposed to know? I'm not so keen on the whole 'liking people' thing. I had exactly one girlfriend and it only lasted a few months because she wanted me to pay more attention to her than I had time for and it was annoying."
