Capítulo 11: Chapter 11

"So? What should we do?"

Kane stretched his arms as soon as he stepped out of the room, inhaling a huge amount of fresh air while yawning. Aoi followed closely behind, being unusually silent. Well, this is how he is when he works. Completely opposite of his cheerful personality in normal circumstances.

Prof had lifted his hand holding a phone and scanned through the message once more. After a second, he sighed and scratched his head as he pocketed the phone before facing Kane and Aoi with his stern face.

"These are the orders…"

It just took the professor a few minutes before successfully explaining the whole situation. Kane glared at him and Aoi came back to his normal look for a second.

"Why should we clean your own mess? Psh." It was Aoi, acting very much like a kid in tantrums. He had pouted his lips and crossed his arms around his chest, not looking at the direction of the professor.

Prof gave them his apologetic smile and tried to defend himself.

"Hey, you got it wrong… I was called there by the chairman and was required to shave my facial hair and wear woman's clothing. You all knew that his orders are absolute, so I had no choice. But believe it or not, I really wasn't aware of the situation. I just really hate being mistaken as a woman, so I…" He explained, mumbling the last words to himself.

Aoi had no intentions to listen, but Kane, on the other hand, scoffed. He pulled a cigarette out of his pocket and placed it on his lips, his eyes turning dark.

"You hate it so you got mad and challenged him to a game… right?" Kane stated, clearly hitting the right spots.

Prof had widened his apologetic smile as he added, "I wasn't the one who made the mechanics! The chairman chose the conditions and I just played the game innocently."

"In short, they used and dumped all the blame on us again."

Aoi's ears perked and Prof stilled. Well, they were already used to it… but doing that right on their first day? It's annoying. Can't they make it the next day? Or next week? Why did it have to be on the first day? It's too tiring…

"Then? We only need to watch that Mr. Gibo, right? And make sure that he doesn't harm any student?" Kane puffed a smoke and leaned on a tree trunk.

Prof nodded his head in approval.

Kane and Aoi glanced at each other, having conversation and mutual understanding just by their eyes. After a minute, Kane finally straightened up and Aoi was back to his serious look. They had walked deeper into the forest, while Prof was left behind, watching them as they disappear before picking his phone up again.

He read the message once more before massaging his temples.

"I hope Chess is alright…" his head is aching.

Kane and Aoi, who had already walked deeper into the woods, never knew the fact that the person they were assigned to watch had already abducted a student. And it's not just any other student, it was Chess. Why the professor hadn't told them, only the professor, himself, knows the reason.

Kane and Aoi entered deeper into the forest and only stopped when they came face to face with a tall and thick wall. This is the end of the forest and the boundary of the university. Outside this wall is the real world, the real world that they have to face in order to keep the university at the top.

At the bottom of that thick wall is a small and rusty gate. It looked like it was unused for centuries, but in fact, this gate is the only way they use to exit and enter the university. It was far from unused, but it really is old and rusty.

Aoi pulled the gate open and a loud creak was heard. It was a screeching sound, but they were already used to it. After opening the gate, they entered the small and narrow alley, every step they take, the louder the noises from outside becomes.

Soon as they got out, a man welcomed them with his back. The man ahead had noticed their presence so he turned and looked at them, staring at them intently. Kane stared back, not backing down. The staring contest had lasted for a whole minute before the man finally smiled.

"It's you again!" he said in glee.

Kane nodded his head while Aoi just gave him a simple smile.

The old man was selling drinks and snacks so he's always here every weekday. And every once in a while, he witnesses these students go in and out from that small alley. He also had purposely placed his stall in front of that small alley as per these people's request without asking any questions.

He pulled two drinks out of his small cooling box and gave them to Kane and Aoi.

"Let's all do our best today too." the old man was joyful. He knew that these people are not ordinary, knowing that they came from the top university, but it didn't matter.

At first, he thought they were unapproachable. But after a few days of frequent meetings, he realized that these people are not that bad. They always come and buy from his stall, so little by little, they unknowingly started to treat each other as friends.

"Mn." Kane replied shortly, giving the old man a slight smile. He then turned to face Aoi and asked, "You ready?"

"Of course. Let's hurry and finish this task." Aoi replied flatly, making Kane grin.

On the other side, inside a dark room, someone is tied securely on a chair.

Chess, who lost consciousness earlier, had regained his mind in confusion. Waking up in an unfamiliar dark room made him panic, different scenarios filling his head, making him hasten his breath as he seeks for any escape routes. It was his instinct working. Even when in a daze, his head had never failed to work for survival.

The place was narrow and messy, everything was in chaos. There were bottles of alcohol scattered on the ground and shattered glasses on the corner.

He forced himself to calm down and analyze the situation. He spent minutes in stabilizing his heart and mind before finally regaining his composure and self-awareness back. He closed his eyes and searched in his memory.

What had happened? He asked himself.

He scanned his memories, from the moment he woke up, until the moment he left the university. Then finally to the moment where a group of unknown people cornered him.

After that, what happened?

Hm… he remembers that a man had come and saved him. After that, that person offered him his help to stand. He accepted the hand and was ready to thank that person when something suddenly covered his nose.

And that's when he remembered the person's face. It was Mr. Gibo.

He tried to call for anyone around, but he realized that his lips are sealed. He also tried moving his hands, but the knot was tight and well-made. Even his feet are secured.

As he was looking around the area, footsteps echoed from outside the room. The door creaked as it opened and a person with a lit lamp on his hand appeared. He closed the door and made sure it was locked before approaching our tied-up class rep.

He pulled a chair with him and settled right across Chess. He laid the lamp in between as he rested his back on the chair.

"It's nice to see you again, student."

Mr. Gibo seemed soberer now than he was earlier, but the smell of alcohol was still strong. Whether it was from the room or from Mr. Gibo himself, one cannot tell.

Chess had his lips sealed, so he remained silent. Mr. Gibo laughed at that, looking stupid while muttering to himself.

"I apologize for tying you up like that… but you do understand why I taped your lips, right? It's because your mouth is dangerous, you know?" he started, staring at Chess with those hateful eyes. "That mouth is provoking… it's manipulating. So, it's better to keep you quiet than to have myself troubled by your talking, right?"

Chess just stared at him, not moving a single inch. Mr. Gibo looked calm on the outside, but when you look at his eyes, you can only see his deep hatred, anger and rage towards the university and him. He had no chance of escaping if this person is around.

"Don't get me wrong, I didn't kidnap you torture you or what. It's not suitable for a university professor like me, right? So, you don't have to worry…" he had that crazy look on his eyes.

When he stood up on his feet, every nerve on Chess's body had detected the impending danger. They all itched to move, making him look like he's trembling. Mr. Gibo had noticed the small movement, making him curve his lips upward.

"Hey, there's no need to be afraid… I just want company, you know." His voice wasn't convincing at all. He turned his back and walked towards a wooden cabinet.

Chess tried to calm his nerves down, but he failed. He already had amazing instincts, but whenever he's in a dark place, those instincts work even better. And right now, his instincts are telling him to run. But how can he when he was securely tied up?

Mr. Gibo watched him as he struggled to remove the ropes. It was useless, he thought. He made sure to tie him up perfectly to prevent any escape, so fidgeting like that wouldn't help him.

With that thought in mind, he took the gallon that he kept inside his cabinet earlier then turned and opened the cup before placing it near his nose, inhaling the scent coming from the inside. Feeling satisfied, he turned and faced Chess.

Mr. Gibo closed their distance and leaned towards him. Then he raised his arm holding the gallon up before pouring its content on the both of them. Chess immediately recognized the smell.

'Gas.' It was gas.

Mr. Gibo intends to burn himself together with him. And true to his words, Mr. Gibo picked the lamp up before grinning at Chess.

"It was nice meeting you." He said before bashing the lamp on to the wooden floor.
