Three years passed by very quickly.
He An was turning 25 this year, and in the three long years he'd spent here, the system had constantly updated him from time to time about Qi Xiu—no, the Southern Emperor.
During this time, the south had become quite a powerful country and already conquered many other nations. It wasn't an exaggeration to say they had reign over every country in this continent. Everyone was afraid to come across them and some even tried to appease to them, yet despite their efforts, all of them were taken by the south.
"Your Majesty, you..." Suyin walked inside the study carrying a tray of food. She was holding her bulging stomach with her hand, clearly showing signs of pregnancy.
Two years ago, Pan Fengge had asked the Emperor for Suyin's hand in marriage, to which permission was granted. Their first child was due soon but with everything going on, she was stressed.
He An's eyes softened and he sat up, hurriedly taking the tray away from her hands. She was pregnant, why was she still running about?
"I thought I told you to leave as soon as you can." He answered, though there were some worries in his heart.
Suyin looked at him in puzzlement and sighed. The words she wanted to say the most couldn't be said out loud.
Two months ago, Yao Xuefeng declared war on the north. If it was three years ago when the south still had no power and was still bound to the treaty, their declaration could be brushed off and the north would have the other nations help them, but the south had already conquered the countries that were involved in the peace treaty.
It was only a matter of time before the south would break down the north's forces and ruin them as well.
Suyin knew her Emperor had still not forgotten Qi Xiu, so she was wondering what he was thinking while all this occurred. In the end, she decided to leave quietly so he could have his thoughts to himself.
Six suddenly popped out and stared at it's host who had a complicated expression on his face. Ever since He An was forced to drive out Qi Xiu, the little system had to endure all sorts of abuse from the host!
It puffed up and asked, [You aren't going to run? =3=]
He An scoffed before replying, [Where can I run to? The little cub already possesses all the places in this continent. The only one left is...]
Six: [The north. O_O]
He An: [Did he save us for last in consideration of our previous relationship, or because he wants revenge?]
Six didn't answer, so He An continued: [How long until he's successful with his plan?]
Six glumly answered, [Less than a week... QAQ I don't know what happened to him, but his protagonist halo off charts! What should have been 5 years was shortened to 3... TwT]
He An wanted to laugh and praise Qi Xiu, but he couldn't bring himself to say anything. His heart was heavy and there was a feeling of loss.
The two spent time alone talking about some matters, and at one point Six even asked the host if he wanted to go onto the next world.
"No, I'll finish the rest of the tasks once this life is over. I want to see Qi Xiu."
*
In the span of a week, all of the north's barriers had been destroyed by the south's troops.
It could be said that Yao Xuefeng was a formidable character in battle, and now that he had an Emperor like Qi Xiu to carry out tactics with, the south was invincible.
In only a week they had arrived at the north's palace, ready to take the country into their hands.
During this period of chaos and bloodshed, He An had sent away all those who served him. This included Suyin and Pan Fengge.
No matter how much they pleaded with him to let them stay, He An couldn't take the risk. Especially since Suyin was at the most important stage of her pregnancy. If anything happened to the baby because of him...
"Your Majesty, please allow me to protect you then!" Pan Fengge tried to reason. He was far too anxious to leave He An alone to defend himself.
"No. Suyin and your unborn child needs you the most, how could I trouble you to take care of me? What if something happens to you? Leave now." He An coldly sent them away.
Now he was sitting alone in the throne room, ready to give up the crown to Qi Xiu. He let out a long sigh of relief.
"Cub, you've gotten far." He muttered a praise under his breath, smiling warmly. He was still reminiscing when he heard footsteps and the clinking of armor.
"He An, don't even think about hiding! Hand over the north!" A few soldiers from the south stormed inside and with them was Yao Xuefeng, mockingly glaring at He An.
"I have no intentions of running." He An stood and pulled his lips into a smile. This irritated Yao Xuefeng and as he grit his teeth in annoyance, he walked up to He An and punched his face harshly. This face was too unsightly!
Not only had this face seduced his beloved Emperor, he was even ordered by Qi Xiu to keep He An alive. Even though this disgusting scum was the cause of all the painful nights Qi Xiu went through...!
But of course, He An didn't know this.
Six suddenly started yelling: [Host, host! Don't give up, ahh! QwQ]
He An ignored it.
After giving away the north's seal to the feisty general in front of him, He An allowed himself to be tied and taken away by force. It was only natural that he would be locked up as a prisoner, but the ropes still hurt his flesh. He looked away and tried to pretend the pain wasn't there.
Cub, wait for me.
