PICTURE PERFECT
An emptied sky blanked by infinite number of stars added to the breezines of the howling wind. It was a quite night for Maru. Sitting near the cliff, watching how the city lights sparkled, being there in a deserted area far from the noisy surrounding she normally have is a dream she know she can't achieve. She stays there for another hour before she finally decided to go home. Home. A place of residence. But, is that place can be considered as home? She doubt
"Maru, buti naman at naisipan mo pang bumalik ipapahanap kana dapat ni boss eh" Ben, with a teasing grin on his face.
"Alam mong wala akong ibang uuwian kung hindi dito lang" on my usual monotone voice.
"I'm glad that you know that" my blood boils upon hearing that familiar baritone voice.
"At alam mo kung bakit...Samuel" he laugh after he heard what I call him.
"I really love your attitude Maru, strong and fierce. Tamang desisyon talaga ang kunin ka sa bar nayun at dalhin ka dito" my fist clenched because of anger but I need to calm my self, I can't lose my chance. This will be my last chance I need to win this If I wanted my efforts not be waisted. Before I can do anything that I will surely regret I choose to turn my back.
"Maru, why did you accept that mission? That's too risky!" Rust, with his always worried tone.
"You know what I'm up to" i replied without any care showing
"Yes, and I also know that you are willing to do anything just to get that goddamn justice even it means risking your effin life" he's right. I don't come this far just to leave everything hangging.
"Maru, I know how this society treated you before. No one believes you even police but Maru don't you think It's time to give up? Don't let hatred eat's you, wag mong ilagay sa kamay mo ang batas. Let the authority handle this matter"
"para ano? Para maulit nanaman ang nangyari noon? Even the authority na sinasabi mong makakatulong saakin become blindness ng binanggit ko na ang pangalan nya. You know if I don't make a move the justice that my family deserve will..." i burst in tears when the memories of the past coming back. It's like yesterday, the pain is still fresh.
"You know how powerful and influencial he is. He can bend the law like what he did before. Kahit mga police can't do anything against him they choose to buried our case cause they don't want to get into His bad side. Which I won't allow. Ngayon pa na kaya kona, ngayon pang may kakayanan na ako? I will avenge my family and get the justice na matagal na namin dapat nakuha. No one not even you Rust can stop me on doing that" i turn my back at him. Sorry Rust, I always listened to you but not this time. Matagal kona itong plinano and the only pieces to complete the picture of my plans is his life. Him lying on the floor bathing with his own blood is the perfect picture I wanted. I don't mind having his filthy blood on my hands. This game will soon to end and the only feet standing will be on mine.
"Maru, you know we can't fail. We need to seal that agreement no matter it takes" Samuel reminded. There will be private meet up between Sam and the dealer of the new drugs. Sam wanted to sign the contract with them to get the expensive drugs. Hindi basta basta ang drugs na gusto nyang makuha, it looks like an elixir but it can cause hallucinations and dellusions if it will be used repeatedly. This drug is prohibited on the market because of the bad effect of it on the user. Despite of the effect Samuel still wants it, he's planning to buy it and sell it to a higher price. "pag hindi pumabor saatin ang mission na ito you know already what to do. Maru, we must get that drugs no matter it takes" Tss desperate ass.
"I will protect you if something wrong happen" he smiled reassured about what I said. Keep smiling as*hole because later you can' t be able to do that.
"Mr. Hans. Hindi ganyang presyo ang napag usapan natin"
"Business is a business Samuel. You think I'll agree without any conditions?"
"Tell me what it is. I can do that just to get those" pointing to the briefcase na pinaglalagyan ng drugs.
"I bet you can't." Mr. Hans with his teasing grin
"Try me then."
"Ok. The only condition I wanted is your life." i saw the shocked face of Samuel.
"W-what? Are you c-crazy?"
"I already said the condition I wanted. So Mr. Samuel Montenegro are you willing to take it or not?"
"Let me think that first with my partner" partner your ass. He pulled me on the corner to talk.
"Maru sabi mo you will protect me" i nooded.
"yes, i will" believe me Im lying.
"That's good now this is the plan"
"Mr. Hans I accept your offer" tila hindi mababakasan ng takot ang boses ni Samuel. You already expected that I will protect you huh.
"Wow, I'm not expecting this. I don't expect that the great Samuel didn't value life that much hahahaha"
"Well if that's your decision I'm gladly accept it."
"Now". "shoot him" Nagkasabay na nag utos si Samuel at Mr. Hans. Second later a shot from the gun echoed on the whole basement.
"W-Why Maru?" He seems confused.
"Let me tell you a story..." I shot him again on the feet this time.
"... There was this young girl who was contented on her life. A happy family, a peaceful life. She can't ask for more." nagsisimula ng gumilid ang mga luha ko.
"....then one sturdy night everything change. The peaceful and the family she have easily lost on just one night. A heartless man took it from her..." yumuko ako para mas malapit na tignan ang kalagayan nya. He's weak. He's already spurting blood. What a good sight I have here.
".... Wanna know who took it?" My jaw clenched.The grip on the gun I am holding tightened.
"Samuel. Yes, it's you. The monster who took away the life of that young girl is you and that girl who lost her precious life is me. What a ill fated we have hahahaha"
"M-Maru"
"Remeber my name Samuel. Remember this time and take it with you in hell. Say your last words because tonight I will do what you did to my family."
"M-Mar—" before he can finish his words I shot him straight from the head. His blood scattered on the floor. My knees become jelly I loose my balance so I fell on the floor,on tears. Finally, its over.
"Mariana Euri De Vera you are under arrest on murdering Samuel Montenegro. There is a strong evidence against you, so you better get a good lawyer to defend you" lumuluha akong nakatingin sa posas na nakagapos sa aking mga kamay. Im happy. I won.
"Thank you for agreeing with this"
"I feel indepted to you when I let them buried the truth.I'm sorry Maru for being coward before" He hug me tight like I was a child protected by her father.
"Thank you for siding with me, thank you for not keeping the truth in the dark. Thank you for everything, you can now bring and convict me..."
