Rowan and Tarik sat on their tired horses in the sun, as Elduine slowly looked between the tome and the letter. The young queen felt a sinking feeling pulling at her heart.
When he finally spoke, the Elven General sounded grim.
“This,” Elduine held up the tome. “This tome holds the ritual for opening a portal.”
It was Tarik’s turn to emit a gasp.
“A portal!” Rowan exclaimed. “For what?”
“For this,” Elduine then opened the letter and read. “Commander Carsus, begin the ritual when we begin the attack on the Humans. I will send you a signal. The Elves will not be able to protect their Palace with the number of men they will have left there so the attack will be short. We must try to secure a Vyaris garnet as well. Remember, find the white bow, and get a garnet from the Prince or King. Romiir, the Crimson Dagger.”
“Well,” Captain Phalen said. “We intercepted the message, so there is no longer a worry about an invasion?”
