Capítulo 43: Shady
South Osco Road,
21st street,
Elisberg City.
Stopping the car right in front of the house mentioned in the address Amber had given him, Ivan informed, "We are here."
Taking a deep breath, Amber calmed herself down. "Okay, thank you for the ride."
"Wait—Do you want me to accompany you inside?"
"It's alright, I have already bothered you a lot. I can go in alone," she said in an unassertive tone.
"Are you sure? It's the first time you are coming here, we don't even know if it's safe." Leaving her alone in an area far away from where they resided made him feel a bit skeptical and uneasy.
Amber, who was already scared and worried, did not hesitate to take his help the second time. "Okay, I guess having someone beside me is more convenient than doing it alone." From what Renna had told her, Renna's husband sounded like an insane toxic man. If Ivan accompanied her, she would feel much more secure and confident.
"Okay, let's go." Both of them got down from the car and marched their way towards the main door of the house.

After ringing the bell twice, both of them impatiently waited for someone to open the door.
"What if they are not home?" Ivan asked.
Just then they heard a glass shattering sound from inside.
"I guess we got an answer to my question," he remarked before ringing the bell again.
"Who is it?" A hoarse voice snapped from the other side of the door.
"I am Renna's friend, I—"
Cutting her off, the man stated, "She is not here."
"Okay, when will she come back."
Just then the man opened the door and snapped at her, "I don't know. Get out of my property now."
Holding a bottle of whiskey in his hand, the man was leaning against the wall. He stenched in alcohol and his appearance looked very shady. There were fresh blood stains on the white t-shirt he was hearing which alarmed both Ivan and Amber.
Moving towards Amber, Ivan asked the man, "Can you tell us where she is?"
"Who are you and why are you asking about my wife?" the man barked at him.
"We are Renna's friends, she is not receiving my call so we are just checking on her," Amber calmly explained, making sure not to trigger the drunk man.
"Something seems off," Ivan whispered to her.
"No one is home, you both leave now." Just then a loud 'THUD' from inside alarmed both of them.
Looking at Ivan's once, Amber pushed the man and ran inside.
"Stop—" when the man tried to chase her, Ivan had no other choice but to stop him.
Grabbing his hand, he twisted it and pressed his chin against the wall. "Don't try to move."

Inside.
As soon as she entered the house, Amber widened her eyes in shock when she saw Renna lying on the floor with a pool of blood surrounding her. "Renna—" she yelled before approaching her.
"A—Amber?" With her eyes half open, Renna was in a half-conscious state. Clutching her stomach, she muttered, "My baby—" before passing out.
Patting her cheeks, Amber panicked, "Renna? Renna wake up." Her body was covered with fresh bruises and her face was as pale as a white sheet.
"Ambulance—" she muttered before rushing towards the entrance.

When Ivan saw Amber rushing towards him, he quickly asked, "What happened?"
"R—Renna, she is bleeding. We need to call the ambulance." Pointing outside, Amber panicked, "My phone—"
"Use mine—" Pinning the man harder against the wall, he instructed, "Take it out from my pocket."
Without wasting any more time, Amber took out his phone.
