Capítulo 14: “She also had red eyes..."

After talking to Catheline and Sussane for a while, Amber left for work. The Saint Building wasn't far from the restaurant so she decided to walk rather than taking a taxi.

While she was on the way to the building, she came across someone. Stopping in the middle of the pathway, she squinted her eyes in an attempt to see clearly.

She wasn't wrong, it was the woman she had met at the restaurant. But what was she doing here?

Determined to ask her about the weird things she had told her last night, Amber was about to call when the woman walked away without sparing a glance at her.

She wanted to follow her, stop her but decided not to. What if meeting the same woman again was just a mere coincidence?

Pursing her lips, she thought, 'But what if it's not?'

Telling herself not to overthink about it, Amber resumed walking towards her office.

The Saint Building.

Fifteenth floor.

Inside Amber's office

"I saw it again—" Jack muttered before curling himself into a ball on the couch.

"Jack, why don't you relax first and then tell me what happened?" Amber tried to calm him down.

"T—They killed him, I saw them kill that woman," he shivered.

"Was that the same man you had seen a few months ago?"

"Yes but he wasn't alone this time, he was with someone." Looking around, he whispered, "She also had red eyes."

"Did he tell you anything this time?" When he shook his head, she inquired, "Jack, are you taking your meds?" When he did not say anything, Amber sighed. "Look, I am just your therapist. I can talk to you, listen to you and help you out. But if you don't take your meds regularly, everything will go in vain."

Keeping quiet for quite some time, Jack looked at her with teary eyes. "Do you not believe me? Do you also think I am making up things because I am crazy?"

Jack Gazelle was a seventeen year old boy, the youngest client she had ever had. Jack was suffering from severe anxiety issues and also claimed seeing weird people in the city, especially at night time. He was under medications for almost six months now and had been taking sessions from Amber since then.

Sitting beside him, she said in a very gentle tone. "I do, I have always believed that there are things which can't be explained. Maybe what you see is real and maybe it's not but whatever it is, you can't let it take over your life. If you let the emotions and situations take over you, it's gonna make you feel weak and it will keep suppressing you. You need to stand up for yourself and fight back with those emotions. You should be the one controlling them and not the other way around."

"I try—I try very hard not to think about it, I try to relax but it haunts me. I can always feel their presence around me and it scares me a lot," Jack said in between his sobs.

Placing her hand on his shoulder, she explained in a very soft and gentle tone. "This is why you need to take your meds regularly. It will help you relax and have a good rest." When he nodded his head, she added, "I want you to promise me that you will take your meds on time."

"I promise."

"Okay so why don't you tell me about school and your friends."

After the session.

"Jack, why don't you go and sit in the car with the driver? I will be there in a second." After Jack left, Mrs.Gazelle thanked Amber. "Ms. Carlton, thank you so much for seeing Jack today and I am sorry for calling you in the morning for an appointment all of a sudden,"

"It's okay." Pausing for a while, Amber remarked, "Mrs.Gazelle, I need to talk to you about Jack. His condition is getting severe, I am sure you are aware of it."

"Yes," she sighed. "It was all fine after the last session but yesterday, he stepped out for a walk after dinner and later we found him curled up like a ball near the dumpster not too far away from our place."

"You need to keep a close eye on him and make sure he takes his meds on time. Since he is just a teenager, a little extra care will be enough for him to deal with the things he is feeling right now," Amber explained.

"I completely understand what you are trying to say but you know your situation. Jack's father is always busy with work and I have a full time job too—"

"I understand working is important but your son is important too. If things go this way, everything will be out of control and I am afraid—" Stopping midway, she further explained, "The medicines and doctors can help him to an extent but you and his father play a major role in this."

"You are right, I will keep that in mind. Thank you."

After Mrs.Gazelle left, Amber attended a few more patients before leaving the office early.
