The following day was supposedly the day of the execution of the Rebel King and his comrades.

"Apparently, because of the rumors, my brother had to postpone the execution," Marvella told Jerissa as she combed her hair in front of the mirror. She looked at her through the reflection and asked, "Jerissa, do you think this is enough to give time for the escape?"

"Certainly…" Jerissa muttered. But as the King's spy, she had to endure the guilt that kept on stabbing her. She whispered apologies to the princess, but only in her mind. For how long could she keep pretending?

Then, the knock on the door startled them.

"Come in!"

King Ezekiel, in his chainmail armor, entered the room.
