Three days later, all four of them had woken up early and was rushing to fix themselves.

They got a call at the break of dawn that Scarlet's condition had suddenly deteriorated. And it being Slate's day off, they could only call him the moment it happened.

They rushed to the hospital in one car and went straight to the emergency room where Scarlet was moved.

Slate didn't have to ask when the doctor saw him, he just shook his head and looked at him as if saying that you already knew the answer to what you want to ask.

It was true that Scarlet was still doing good but that doesn't mean that her body wasn't deteriorating.

All four of them had been preparing their hearts and minds to this but to face it is an entirely different thing.

"We were able to stabilize her for now but I'm sorry to say, she may not get past this month," the doctor clapped his hand on Slate's shoulder and said with sympathy.
