Capítulo 13: Chapter 13: Really Couldn't Leave Her Alone

Days passed and Amethyst took some breaks on going around. Not because she was tired but because Scarlet informed her that she needs to organize what she had at hand first before they can continue in order for them to know where to continue and how.

At the same time, for the first time since coming here she was actually able to celebrate new year with others.

In the past she would by herself a cake and a few other dishes together with some wine but this time, she helped out in cooking and had a fun time with the siblings.

And unlike before where Slate was always aloof towards her, this time she can have proper conversations with already.

"So you will be returning to your work the week after new year's week?" she asked after they talked about work.

"Yes, I can only lend you a hand in going around until this week," he answered.

She raised both hands and waved them, "It is fine really because I am not going on far places yet."

"But then what about your shop?" Scarlet asked in worry.

"Oh, don't worry about it, it already has some regular customers that I can laze around but it will be fine. Of course I'll have to do some of the accounting and all but that is not a difficult thing at all."

They only spent about three weeks and the first was even in a condition where she was being a burden to them but now they are chatting around and having fun that she thanked God for letting her know them.

The loneliness she always felt.

The pain around the end of the year.

It may not be all of it because it still hunts her but most of it were already fading away because she got people with her now.

They may not be the closest of friends yet but she knew they will get there.

It was three days later where Amethyst decided to go to another place.

"Hey, why don't you join us this time?" she asked looking at Scarlet.

Scarlet blinked her eyes, "But I'm..."

"Don't worry too much about your wheel chair. We will be going to Burnham Park where grasses are abundant and we can have a picnic. It is not a difficult place to be for the stairs aren't the same as the others and the terrain is just right for wheels."

Scarlet chuckled, "You seem to have been there multiple times already."

"Well, I have been here for five years. Every time I get a break from my shop, I would go down there for some fresh air. It is not that bad."

Slate thought for a bit after hearing this, "I think this is a good idea, I have indeed told you not to go to so many places but since both of us are here then you should come."

"But I am the girl in the dark..." she muttered.

"What is it? Is there a problem?" Amethyst asked when she thought she heard Scarlet spoke but didn't understand anything.

"Nothing," Scarlet smiled before shrugging.

"I guess I do need that as well. Let me just get change then we can go."

Slate watched her wheel herself to her room, she did tell him that she already came up with an idea on how to make the story flow but she didn't elaborate anything and so he has no idea what kind of story she will be creating this time.

But seeing her reaction a while ago when Amethyst talked about going out, something she would always love to do. He knew that it has something to do with her story.

She loves acting the part after all.

Being in character allows her to imagine more of what the character is seeing and experiencing.

That was what she told him in the past when he asked how she was able to make such fantasy stories that would allow the imagination to work even to those who has the least imagination.

"Could it be that she didn't want to go out and I just imposed on her?" Amethyst asked him also noticing the changes on her.

"No, don't think too much about it," he replied.

Hearing this, Amethyst once again shrugged this matter off.

"We're lucky it is a sunny day," Scarlet said with a smile as Slate wheeled her towards an open grass area.

Amethyst was holding the bag where their snacks are in and a blanket to sit down on.

Not far, they could see the part of the park where one could ride bicycles, whether rented to those renting it on place or owned.

They could also see some lovers walking around the lake and some riding boats on the lake.

Then there are families having their own picnics as well.

Amethyst had a smile on until her eyes landed on the lake before they glazed over.

"Amethyst?" Scarlet called out to her.

The blanket was already spread out and she was already placed on the ground by Slate when she noticed Amethyst still standing looking over the lake.

Amethyst snapped out of her thoughts and looked at them, even Slate was looking at her with furrowed brows.

She smiled, "Oh just thought this place is truly refreshing."

She walked over and sat down beside Scarlet.

This place wasn't only a place where she takes a break or have a breather but also her very own rehabilitation place.

Though she never comes here once December is approaching because instead of it healing her, it actually is bringing more trauma to her.

Scarlet could feel that it was not refreshing that Amethyst felt with the way she looked a while ago but instead it was something else.

"You two don't need to worry about me, you can go and do what you need to do while I stay here to relax. And relax because I have my phone with me," Scarlet then told them after they sat there for a bit.

"Okay then, we shall return to have some snacks. Enjoy your stay here," Slate said standing up.

"Oh, uhmm it is fine. Since we are already here, I can go on and you can stay here with her," Amethyst said.

Slate just looked at her before gesturing for them to go.

He walked ahead and Amethyst could only follow.

Well, he really couldn't leave her alone can he? Especially with what happened on the last two places where she was almost approached by some not so good people.

Scarlet smiled seeing them getting along even more before she opened her laptop and started re reading what she had written.

She would then type from time to time then looked at her notes before thinking and writing again.

On the other hand, Amethyst had already entered the state she always was whenever she checks out the places.

She first went to the flower garden then to the biking spot. She went to the place where the fountains are and observed the water rushing out of the ground creating a beautiful view especially when the sun light would hit the waters.

A rainbow would even appear for a bit.

As they go around, Slate noticed that in this state not even once did she looked at the lake or even came close to it.

He too noticed the changes in her a while ago where it seems as if she suddenly because gloomy.

'Is there something about the lake?' he thought looking towards it.

Two hours later they returned and Scarlet was watching the lake with a contented smile. A cup on her hand.

When she saw them, she waved at them and once they have settled she asked Amethyst.

"What do you think about the lake?"

Slate looked at his sister, 'Didn't she realize that the lake seemed to make this woman change?'

Well, Scarlet indeed didn't realize it because she thought Amethyst was looking at the families a while ago and that was what made her mood change.
