Capítulo 16: Jia Li's great culinary skills
Grandfather Fu's tone was clear, and the meaning of his words, easy to understand.
The police officers only came to report the latest information to him and were not there to plead on behalf of anybody.
"General, we will handle him according to the law. We are sorry to have disturbed your rest, we will take our leave now." The chief police officer said as he and his underlings bowed before taking their leave.
You may be wondering why the Fu brothers didn't butt in during the conversation, so here is the reason. The Fu brothers knew their grandfather was capable, and wouldn't need their help to speak, so they kept calm.
Now the Police Officers were gone, and the old man had calmed down a bit, Jia could now serve the food.
With a cheerful smile on her face, Jia Li stood to her feet as she approached the old man.
"Grandfather, it's late already and you need to have your dinner."
Grandfather Fu smiled as he said to her, "Girl, this old man has been waiting for your food."
"Okay. But grandfather, don't make fun of Jia Li if the food is not to your taste." Kia Li said before walking back to the table to serve the food.
"I wouldn't dare." Grandfather Fu said with a smile on his wrinkled face.
Fu Hua and YingPei had their eyes on Jia Li as she took out the four lunch boxes 🍱 from the polythene bags.
"Do you think her food will be nice?." YingPei whispered to Fu Hua in a curious tone.
"I don't know." Fu Hua replied as he looked away from Jia Li.
Grandfather Fu's meal box was different from the others because he was still a patient. He accepted his meal box with an anticipating smile on his aged face.
"The food looks delicious." Grandfather Fu said as he removed the lid of his food box, before picking up his chopsticks 🥢.
"Taste it." Jia Li said to him as she handed two meal boxes to Fu Hua and Yingpei.
"Mmm. It has a great taste!." Grandfather Fu praised her cooking after taking a bite of the freshly cooked vegetables on his plate.
"It smells nice," YingPei said after he uncovered the lunch box. He was already drooling and couldn't wait to have a taste.
"Thank you!." Jia Li said with a happy smile before going to eat her food.
As for Fu Hua, he was unlike the others. He didn't give any reaction and just ate his food in silence.
When he first had a taste of the food, he knew the food was delicious, but he refused to say anything and preferred to enjoy the meal in silence.
Jia Li thought Fu Hua didn't like the food, so she felt a little bad, but decided not to dwell on it as she focused on her food.
During the meal, Grandfather Fu's face was filled with a smile, and YingPei wasn't left behind. Grandfather and Grandson enjoyed their meal with satisfied smiles on their faces, while the other grandson chose to hide his feelings.
After the meal, Jia Li packed up their lunch boxes and kept them away.
"Girl, I didn't know you could cook so well, even more than your mother." Grandfather Fu praised with a grin.
Jia Li chuckled softly as she replied, "Grandfather why do I think your praise sounds like you are bootlicking?."
"Who has time for that? I was only telling the truth." Grandfather Fu replied as he looked away.
"Okay...okay thank you, grandfather." Jia Li replied happily.
Having rested for a while, Jia Li passed his medications to him with a glass of water, and the old man took it without a fuss, before handing the glass back to her.
"Grandfather, finish the water." Jia Li said as she handed the glass back to him.
'Who dares to command grandfather?.' The Fu brothers thought as they looked on. But to their surprise, their grandfather took the glass from Jia Li and finished the water obediently before handing the empty glass back to her.
It looks like they need to start getting used to the influence Jia Li had over their grandfather.
Around 9 pm, Fu Hua and YingPei left the hospital to their hotel they lodged in, so only Grandfather Fu and Jia were left in the hospital room.
Sometime later, Mrs. Qin and the nurse assigned to check on Grandfather Fu came to check on him.
Because of the drip, grandfather Fu needed to use the bathroom often. Now he could walk by himself, he didn't need help with bathroom breaks.
FU VILLA
"When will my sons be back?." A good-looking older woman asked General Fu as she laid on the same bed as him. She was his wife and the mother to Fu Hua and YingPei, Mrs. Fu.
"Have you asked about my father?." General Fu asked with a tired look.
"I know he is getting better. The old General has always been a strong man, so I'm sure he is strong enough now. I'm only worried about my sons since they might not be used to the environment." Mrs. Fu said with a neutral look.
"Tomorrow morning, call Father to ask about his health. Don't make up any excuse, just call him and apologize for not calling him earlier, then ask about his health. I know you don't care, but at least accord him some respect." General Fu said in an annoyed tone before turning over to the other side.
"Are you angry with me?." Mrs. Fu asked with her gaze on his back, but she didn't receive any reply.
She didn't why he was suddenly angry with her, but she had to placate him.
"Alright, I will do as you have instructed. I will call Father in the morning."
Mrs. Fu still didn't get any reply, so she guessed her husband was already asleep, so sighed before closing her eyes to sleep as well. When morning reached, then she will have to bother about other things.

Capítulo 17: Grandfather Fu stays at the Qin's residence
Grandfather Fu woke up this morning to a call from one of his granddaughters-in-law. When he saw the caller ID, a smirk formed on his lips.
When he answered the call, Fu Hee didn't let him speak up as she greeted him in a cheerful tone and went ahead to ask about his health, rambling on and off.
When Grandfather Fu couldn't handle her ramblings, he cut her off.
"Did you call to check up on me or did you call to annoy me?." Grandfather Fu asked in an annoyed tone.
Mrs. Fu Hee was taken aback by the Old man's annoyed tone, but she knew better not to piss him off further, so she smiled and spoke in a tone to placate him.
"Father, how could you talk like that? I called to know your present state of health." Mrs. Fu Hee said with a fawning smile, although the old man couldn't see it.
"Fu Hee, don't think I don't know your thoughts. You don't want me to come back to keep you in place since your husband can not do the job. My health is in perfect condition if you insist to know." Grandfather Fu said in annoyance as he ended the call.
Tut...tut...tut
"Hello! Father? Hello?!." Mrs. Fu Hee called out but received no response from his end. She glanced at the phone just to see the call had already been terminated.
"Why is he angry this morning? Does he hate my voice so much?." Mrs. Fu Hee muttered to herself with her lowered gaze on the phone. But when she looked up, she saw her husband staring intently at her.
She was almost scared out of her wits. She didn't hear any footsteps or any sound to indicate someone was approaching.
"Do you want to cause my blood pressure to rise? How long have you been standing there?." Mrs. Fu Hee asked with creased brows.
"Since the time you were sweet-talking to Father." General Fu Lei replied before walking past her to sit on the couch
Fu Hee followed him immediately to sit by his side. "It is not my fault I had to act that way. Father is very difficult to talk to, that's why I had to implore such means."
"What sort of excuse is that? If you were genuine, would you have trouble conversing with father?." General Fu Lei asked, sparing her a glance before looking away.
"Why are you angry with me this morning? Your father is already angry, you want to join him as well?." Mrs. Fu Hee asked with a hurt facial expression.
"Sometimes I do not understand you. Father will be home soon, this is just a reminder to do a good job." General Fu Lei said before standing and walking away.
Mrs. Fu Hee should be panicking now, but she remained on moved with a look of indifference as her husband walked away.
She didn't seem affected by the situation at all. But even if she didn't seem affected at all, she still needed to do her job as the first daughter-in-law of Retired Major General Fu Wei Lei.
Back in the countryside where Jia Li was living with her parents, Grandfather Fu has just been discharged from the hospital and insisted on staying with the Qins. There was nothing Fu Hua and YingPei could do other than to accept that fact.
Jia Li had to clear up her grandfather's room for the old man to reside in.
Grandfather Fu stayed with the Qins for two days before agreeing to leave with his grandsons.
But before he left for the city, his grandsons would visit him every afternoon and leave in the evening.
The first noon the Fu brothers came to visit their grandfather at the Qin's house, they found the place to be very small and uncomfortable compared to the mansion they were living in.
Because Jia Li spends the whole day with Grandfather Fu, the old man isn't lonely.
Jia Li played games with him and told him stories to keep him company. Then in the evening, he would take walks with his grandsons.
Mrs. Qin worked night shifts, while Mr. Qin went for work at a construction site, so basically, Jia Li spends most of the time with the Old man.
The second afternoon the Qin brothers came to visit before they traveled back, Fu Hua refused to eat lunch there, but YingPei accepted the food Jia Li served him.
Grandfather Fu glanced at him but continued to eat without saying anything. After a few spoons, he encouraged YingPei to eat to his satisfaction.
Fu Hua knew Grandfather Fu was not happy with me, but he didn't want to eat anything because he was uncomfortable and wanted to go back to the city soon.
"Miss Jia Li, please get me something to drink." Fu Hua turned to Jia Li to ask.
"Okay, I'll be right back." Jia Li said with a polite smile as she went into the kitchen and returned with a bottle of fresh apple juice.
She cleaned the cap before passing the drink to him.
"Thank you!." Fu Hua said as he took the drink from her. He took out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped the cap before removing it.
Jia Li was amazed at how thorough he was.
"Brother, you should try this, it's nice." YingPei who has been eating quietly all these while said to Fu Hua while pointing at the side dishes on the table.
"I'm not interested." Fu Hua replied before drinking from the bottle of fruit drink.
When he finished the fruit juice, he went to the small living room to sit and wait for them.
Jia Li joined Grandfather Fu and YingPei at the dining table to have her lunch.
A 'ding' sound came from Fu Hua's phone, and he checked out. It was a text from his girlfriend asking when he would be back.
Fu Hua read the text but didn't reply, because he wanted to surprise her the next day.
Yes, he was going back to the city the next morning, so he wanted to surprise her.
