"I believe my days in this place have been a series of events that have moulded my mind in a kind of way, Bes.." Lizzie began to narrate to her, "today, I declared after returning from Uncle Harrow's, that I was not going to brood or feel bad for myself."

Bessie was close to tearing up from hearing her speak like this. Was she totally damaged to even let her emotions out? 

"Elizabeth.. " Bessie called, damning the place of ethics as she mouthed her name easily, her voice was shaken up from her inability to keep in the tears. 

Liz observed her struggles but did not want the waterworks to begin, so she said.. 

"You don't have to feel sad for me."

"But it is too much heartbreak for a person to have to endure in one day. How are you not visibly shaken by all this?"
