Except for the delicate tinkling noises of her feet hitting the bark, the night was still. With each branch she scaled, she drew tiny gasps. Tonight, the stars were alive and moving. She didn't want to miss out on it. Hope pulled a strand of her reddish-brown hair away from her eyes and tucked it behind her little ears, feeling the soothing wind brush against them.
She hadn't seen shooting stars in a very long time. She grinned as she approached the canopy of the tree, her deer brown eyes fixed on the vast clear sky, lit by the shooting stars' soaring fire. She took a deep breath in, preparing to spend the night between the sky and the surface when the sounds of rustling leaves brought her back into the present moment.
Once she was safely over a sturdy branch, Hope looked down with a smile on her face. Drake was staying right beneath her, with a smile on his face. "Did you want us to spend the night here so you can sleep in a tree?"
